Albany Airport Gateway Arch Welcomes
Travelers to Airports and Capital Region
The 81,000 pound Airport Gateway Arch spanning AlbanyShaker Road was lowered into place June 26. The arch
welcomes travelers to the Albany International Airport and
to the Capital Region.
The installation of the arch completes major upgrades in
the Airport Terminal and the construction of a new 1,000
car parking car garage.
"New York State's commitment to infrastructure is most
evident in Governor Cuomo's $63 million investment to
construct our new 1,000 car parking garage along with the
major renovation and passenger upgrades in our terminal,"
said Philip Calderone, CEO of the Albany County Airport
Authority. "Today's completion of the Airport Gateway
Arch will serve as a permanent and iconic symbol welcoming
all to our Airport and to our entire Capital Region."

HAPSMobile Inc. Signs Lease at Spaceport
America
H A PSMobile Inc chose Spacepor t A mer ica for
test operations and development of a specialized

communications platform designed to provide internet
connectivity to hard-to-reach places around the globe.
The work at Spaceport America will help HAPSMobile
and AeroVironment obtain government certif ication
for the unmanned aircraft system, which has 260-foot
wingspan and is designed to circle in the stratosphere
for extended per iods of time while car r ying a
telecommunications payload. It is expected to operate at
an altitude of 65,000 feet above sea level.

ACC Announces Staff Updates
The Airport Consultants Council (ACC) announced that
Daniel Jagdmann has been promoted to manager, data
services and membership.
Sylvia Palmer has taken on the operations role for the
organization, as ref lected in her new title of director
of operations and regulatory affairs. In her six months
at ACC, Palmer has become an invaluable addition to
the team, supporting and enhancing the organization's
regulatory partnerships and engagement, and progressively
taking on additional responsibilities in the months
following other staff departures.

AAAE Elects Leaders for 2020-2021 During
Annual Membership Meeting
Kelly Campbell, A.A.E., executive director
of aviation at the Lubbock Preston Smith
International Airport took office June 26, as
chair of the American Association of Airport
Executives (AAAE) for 2020-2021.
Other key appointments to the Association's
Executive Committee, Board of Directors, and
Policy Review Committee were also finalized
during the organization's Annual Membership
Meeting.
Campbel l was one of si x Executive
Committee members elected by the AAAE membership.
She succeeds Tory Richardson, A.A.E., President and
chief executive officer at the Gerald R. Ford International
Airport, who becomes First Past Chair.

Ingrid Hairston as its new vice president of
properties and business development.
Hairston recently served as the director of
