Dwight H. Pullen, Jr. Named 2022 ACC Board of
Directors Chair

Council (ACC) announced the
election of Dwight H. Pullen
Jr., national core market leader,
DPR Construction, as the chair
of the 2022 ACC Board of
Directors.
With 26 years of aviation
experience, Pul len focuses
on driving strategic growth
nationally and internationally
within the aviation infrastructure market sector, focusing
on airport operational excellence and maximizing airport
client engagement, as well as growing aviation talent.
He is the first African American to hold the position
of board chair of ACC. He also serves on the board of
directors of the Airport Minority Advisory Council.

Newark Liberty Airport Reopens Key Runway
Ahead of Schedule
Newark Liberty International Airport reopened one of
its major runways after a three-month closure to repave
the surface and add key upgrades. With the reopening, all
airport runways are again operational during peak hours
while auxiliary work, including taxiway and lighting
improvements, will continue off peak into the spring
of 2022.
Originally set to reopen Oct. 1, the runway returned
to service five days ahead of schedule. The work was
accelerated to take advantage of reduced flight schedules
resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. Before the pandemic,
the runway, which serves as a primary landing
facility at Newark Liberty, handled nearly 50 percent of
the airport's flight activity.
The $84.2 million project was staged in consultation
with Federal Aviation Administration and the airlines to
minimize operational impacts.

Indhira Figuereo to Lead U.S. Aviation
Practice at WSP USA
Indhira Figuereo, who has
served as the northeast region
aviation practice leader for the
past five years at WSP USA,
has been promoted to national
aviation market leader. Figuereo
brings more than two decades
of experience in the aviation
industry, specializing in transportation
infrastructure, specifically
landside/airside airport
design, and program and construction management.
She joined WSP in October 2016.
In her new leadership role, Figuereo, with the support
of the WSP aviation team, will collaborate with
clients throughout the entire lifecycle of a project,
developing solutions that address their specific needs
to modernize facilities for passengers and air cargo,
preparing them for future growth in the industry.

Christina Cassotis Named Recipient of 2021 ACC
Aviation Award of Excellence
Christina Cassotis has been named the recipient of the
2021 Airport Consultants Council (ACC) Aviation Award
of Excellence.
The Aviation Award of Excellence is presented
annually to recognize an individual's or organization's
extraordinary
contributions
to the aviation
industry that
are visionary and innovative, have advanced the industry,
and have served the good of the public. Cassotis was
selected for this is award by a panel of airport development
professionals from across the country, in recognition of
her long career in airports and for her strong leadership
through the COVID-19 pandemic.
Currently working as chief executive officer at the
Allegheny County Airport Authority, Cassotis has helped
transform the Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT)
into the world-leading airport it is today. Her passion
for improving the travel journey spurred many changes.
These include advocating for increased autonomy for
the passenger throughout the airport travel experience,
increasing control over their environment, reducing stress,
and establishing a brand value for airports and promoting
traveler loyalty. Cassotis's leadership through the COVID19
pandemic was instrumental in the advancement of
capital projects at PIT and furthering a diverse and
empowered workforce within PIT community.
