Regan Teel, PE
Project Manager, Burns & McDonnell
After working as a structural engineer for Burns & McDonnell
in Kansas City, Missouri, Regan Teel joined
the firm's New York team embarking on the design of
the Delta Air Lines terminal redevelopment project at
LaGuardia Airport.
A year later, she took on the role of project manager
for a $4 billion project that consolidated the airline's
operations into a single 1.3 million square-foot terminal.
The project included 37 aircraft gates distributed
among four concourses connected by a centralized
state-of-the-art terminal headhouse. Teel managed the
headhouse, which includes ticketing, baggage claim,
TSA security checkpoints and the Delta Sky Club. She
and the Burns & McDonnell team were responsible for
delivering an innovative design, managing 20 design
subconsultants, and maintaining a strong schedule.
Today Teel manages multidiscipline project team and
her goal on each project is to create a one-team mindset
among stakeholders, subconsultants and contractors,
which allows for successful communication and implementation
from concept planning to project closeout.
She also works to align company and industry initiatives
that facilitate efficient designs, saving clients money
and delivering projects on time.
She works on initiatives to streamline design-build
construction, provide enhanced and transparent communication
between all team members and clients, and
champions the latest Building Information Modeling
(BIM) approaches to allow informed decisions and
prioritize site safety.
As an active member of Burns & McDonnell's Network
of Women program, she mentors young professionals,
helping women grow their network and connect with
other female leaders within the firm. Her mentoring
activities also include volunteering for Introduce a Girl
to Engineering Day.
