including 40-GHz CW signal sources. "The SC5520A and SC5521A
are part of our ultrahigh-frequency synthesizer series (UHFS)
of signal sources," said a company spokesperson. "They boast a
frequency tuning range of 160 MHz to 40 GHz stepping at 1 Hz
resolution and an amplitude range of -10 dBm to +15 dBm typical
with phase noise among the lowest in the market. These compact
modules are ideal for system integration and appropriate for
applications in communication transceivers, automotive radar
and optics, and as clocks in modern-day digital data converters." The SC5521A measures 3.7 in. x 0.75 in x 5.75 in., while the
SC5520A occupies a single PXI slot.
Picotest has introduced what Charles Hymowitz, VP of sales
and marketing, described as a unique harmonic comb generator
that's designed to reveal resonances in power-supply, clock, and
voltage-bus designs (power integrity) as well as to support EMC
measurement and troubleshooting. Dubbed the J2150A Harmonic
Comb Injector, "It's unique because it's in a USB thumb drive [and]
uses 5-V power from any USB port," he said. "The generator has five
different frequency modes, from 1 kHz to 8 MHz with spectrum
coverage from 1 kHz to over 1 GHz." The generator requires no
added software, he said.
"Given the applications and the size of the associated circuits,
portability is key," Hymowitz added. "This is why we decided to
create this product capability in a USB thumb drive. The SMA
connector allows the generator signal to be injected into any
point in the circuit and, when paired with EMI probes, makes
for a very powerful impedance resonance finder."

midrange performance and up to 200MHz modulation bandwidth with the price
point of an entry-level RF signal generator.
