Recent products from Keysight
Technologies include the M9384B and
M9383B VXG, which product managers Kimberly Cassacia and Taylor Plorin
and product marketing manager Eric Hsu
described as the first dual-channel microwave vector signal generators (VSG)
with frequency coverage to 44 GHz,
2-GHz RF modulation bandwidth, and
phase-coherent capability in a single instrument. "The VXGs offer the industry's
highest output power versus error vector
magnitude (EVM) and adjacent channel
power ratio (ACPR) performance for 5G
NR," they said. "The dual-channel VXGs
utilize direct digital synthesizers (DDS)
that enable real-time control of relative
phase, time, and amplitude offset between
the two channels for multiuser or beamforming MIMO OTA testing."
To accelerate the product development
lifecycle, Cassacia, Plorin, and Hsu said,
"The Keysight M9384B and M9383B VXG
microwave signal generators offer a new
graphical user interface and embedded
signal generation applications powered
by the Keysight PathWave platform." They
added that integration with the PathWave
software platform enables measurement
interaction with other instruments,
via PathWave X-Series Measurement
Applications for signal analysis and
PathWave Test Automation for automating test workflows.
They also commented on Keysight's vector transceiver, which addresses increasing
demands for multiband and multiformat
high-volume wireless production tests.
"Vector transceivers are purpose-built for

rapid solution creation and faster throughput in manufacturing test of wireless devices and components," they said. "The
new Keysight M9410A/M9411A PXIe vector transceiver (VXT) integrates a 6-GHz
vector signal generator and a vector signal
analyzer in a 2- or 3-slot PXIe module with
up to 1.2 GHz bandwidth."
Anritsu's MG3690C analog signal generators serve a range of microwave and
mmWave measurements and applications, according to Sadashiv Phadnis,
product marketing manager, who added
that the instrument is suitable for making IP2/IP3, in-band/out-of-band interference, and pulsed and frequency-swept
scalar measurements and that it can be
used for applications such as IF/RF signal
injection, LO substitution, or as a highspeed clock source. "The MG3690C is capable of generating industry-best output
power levels even at high frequencies of
40 GHz and above with very good phase
noise," he said. "Generating higher output power levels is essential for accurate
IP2/IP3 and in-/out-of-band interference
measurements. Output power is also important when a signal generator is used
as a high-speed clock source."

Phadnis said the MG3690C has the accuracy and performance necessary for
R&D and metrology labs. "When locked
to a stable external reference, it serves
as high-frequency reference," he said. "It
also has agility and adaptability for production and test floors. Robust SCPI and
native commands are supported by the
MG3690C, so it can adapt to automated
test environments very easily."
Anritsu also offers a software tool that
can create and generate user-defined
waveforms to help the MG3690C generate a variety of standard modulation signals, such as sinusoidal, ramp, square, and
Gaussian noise. "The PC-based software
includes a waveform editor to define or
draw any complex waveform and download it to the MG3690C," Phadnis said. "It
can then be used with any combination
of AM and FM/PM modulations to generate user-defined modulated waveforms.
it is possible to synchronize waveforms
used for modulation when more than one
modulation is selected. The software provides flexibility in signal generation that
is vital for R&D applications."
SIGLENTs most recent release is the
