During July 9-11, the Moscone Center in northeast San Francisco hosts SEMICON West 2019,
which offers three days of presentations with
more than 80 hours of technical and business
programming, while the event's website lists
more than 530 exhibitors that have a stake in
the world of microelectronics.
SEMICON West's content and expo covers
everything from materials, equipment, design,
manufacturing, system integration, and demand channels, to new verticals and adjacencies such as flexible hybrid electronics, MEMS,
and sensors.
This year's SEMICON West will feature allnew networking events, three new "Meet the
Experts" Theaters, and new immersive Smart
Pavilion experiences.

Featured speakers at SEMICON West include:
* Nate Baxter-General Manager, Development and Production Group at TEL US
* Oreste Donzella-Sr. VP & Chief Marketing Officer at KLA

EVALUATION ENGINEERING JULY 2019

IEEE hosts many events throughout the year,
and brings one to the Big Easy in late July
that should be on the radar of all electronic
test & measurement engineers. The 2019 IEEE
International Symposium on Electromagnetic
Compatibility (EMC), Signal and Power
Integrity (SIPI) is a five-day event that will
be held July 22-26 at the Ernest N. Morial
Convention Center in New Orleans.
The event guide states EMC + SIPI will offer
more than 200 technical sessions, workshops &
tutorials, hands-on experiments & demonstrations, special sessions, and standards sessions
with the world's leading engineers in EMC and
SIPI. More than 150 exhibit booths are expected
to be on display during the event's three expo
days.
A keynote on the morning of July 23 from
Gabriel Rebeiz, Member of the National
Academy, Distinguished Professor and the

Wireless Communications Industry Endowed
Chair at the University of California, San Diego.
Also a IEEE fellow, Prof. Rebeiz' talk, "5G and
the Rise of Directive Communications: The End
of the Marconi Era is Near," will summarize the
work in this area from defense to commercial
applications and review the performance verification test challenges of these devices.
A few of EMC + SIPI's other key features
include:
* Standards Week - a special track on current and emerging international EMC and
SIPI standards
* Three Special Sessions on spectrum engineering, EMC of wireless tpower transfer
systems, and low-cost software-defined
radios for environment measures
* Three days of workshops and tutorials on
topics ranging from smart grid to wireless,
automotive, and antennas
