1. Real-time
spectrum analyzer
The Spectran XFR V5 PRO RealTime Spectrum Analyzer by Saelig
is a portable, rugged RF detection
device designed to capture even
the briefest signal transmissions.
Its rapid signal acquisition cans
a 20GHz bandwidth in less than
20mS. The instrument's internal
GPS also indicates the precise
location of the measured signals.
Housed in a rugged, i7-based
Windows 10 laptop with a
sunlight-readable 15.6" display
and magnesium alloy case, this
analyzer is ready-to-go for covert
outside field operations. The
easy-to-use software that runs
on the XFR V5 PRO is designed
for detecting unknown or illegal
transmissions across a wide
frequency range. The XFR V5 PRO
can store several hours of realtime data.

2. Industry's smallest
regulatory-certified
sub-GHz module
Microchip Technology has
introduced what it calls the
smallest IEEE 802.15.4-compliant
module. It combines an ultralow-power microcontroller with a
sub-GHz radio, accelerating timeto-market and providing longlasting battery life in wirelessnetworked sensors. SAM R30
module supports proprietary
networks that can be easily
customized and configured. This
is suitable for applications where
interoperability is not desired due
to their inherent vulnerability to
remote attacks. The SAM R30
module features ultra-low-power
sleep modes, with wake from
general-purpose input/output, or
its built-in real-time clock while
consuming approximately 800 nA.

4. Sensor classifies
motion data

Ironwood Electronics' new
high-performance socket SGBGA-6484 allows 1 mm pitch,
11x13mm body IC's to be used
in socket and operate without
compromising performance in
high-speed memory applications.
The new 27 GHz bandwidth
sockets easily support very
dense BGA devices utilizing a
high-performance conductive
elastomer contactor. The
contact resistance is normally
20 milliohms. The sockets have
a precision design, which guides
the IC to the exact position for
connection of each ball and uses
an open top socket lid to provide
compressive force. Pricing for the
socket is $350 at quantity 1.

STMicroelectronics has
integrated machine-learning
technology into its advanced
inertial sensors to improve
activity-tracking performance
and battery life in mobiles and
wearables. The LSM6DSOX
iNEMO(TM) sensor contains a
machine-learning core to classify
motion data based on known
patterns. Relieving this first stage
of activity tracking from the main
processor saves energy and
accelerates motion-based apps
such as fitness logging, wellness
monitoring, personal navigation,
and fall detection. Devices
equipped with ST's LSM6DSOX
can deliver a convenient and
responsive "always-on" user
experience without trading
battery runtime.
