PPG Reaches New Lows
for a Premium Paint System
When PPG set out to develop the
next generation coatings system
for commercial vehicles, the goal
was to raise the bar for colormatching excellence, ease of use
and process performance-key
refinish demands of fleet maintenance operators, body builders
and truck repair facilities. The
end result is the new DELFLEET
ONE™ paint system, which PPG
says achieves its aim with one
significant added bonus: it offers
the commercial transportation
industry's lowest VOC ratings for
a premium paint system.
The new, ultra-low VOC paint
system includes the latest
aluminum and pearl pigments
to provide full color capability
for direct gloss, basecoat and
matte colors, all of which have

a VOC of 1.5 pounds per gallon.
The system's clearcoats and
primers have a VOC of 2.0 or
less. Those numbers translate
to a 57% reduction in VOC emissions compared to a traditional
commercial paint system.
"There's no doubt that this
ultra-low VOC system is better
for the environment," says J.J.
Wirth, PPG segment manager,
commercial coatings, U.S. and
Canada. "Moreover, it can immediately address the needs of

those operations currently reaching their maximum permissible
limits for VOC emissions, while
being well-positioned to meet
future VOC legislative demands."
The Delfleet One compact
paint system has just 42 toners,
four binders and four paint
additives, efficiently reducing
on-hand inventory requirements yet providing the
resources needed to address all
refinish or OEM work.
The entire system is supported
by PPG's extensive color database that expands as new colors,
special mixes and variant formulas emerge. New color tools
supporting the system include
the exclusive PPG Delfleet One
Tint Guide and PPG Delfleet One
Color Deck, which houses thousands of OEM color chips and
variants arranged chromatically.
The paint system also ensures
accurate color match through
PPG's advanced color tools that
include the RAPIDMATCH® XI
spectrophotometer,
TOUCHMIX® XI computer and
PAINTMANAGER® XI software.
