South Europe Ground
Services (SOEGS) is
the name chosen for
the new company that
will provide ground
handling services for
Iberia, Iberia Express,
The company provides a range
of services, including baggage
handling, lost and found, aircraft
cleaning and wheelchair assistance
being the most significant
services. Through this acquisition,
Unifi becomes the largest provider
of airport wheelchair services in
the U.S. with revenues exceeding

Vueling and Level at all Spanish
airports and passenger handling
services for British Airways, Air Nostrum
and Aer Lingus. In addition, it
will be able to serve third-party companies
at the airports where Iberia
Airport Services has been awarded a
license in the latest Aena tender.
The new company, with 100 percent
IAG capital and a majority of Iberia
shareholding, is the result of the
agreement reached between Iberia
and its trade unions on Feb. 2 with
the aim of guaranteeing a sustainable
and competitive future for the handling
business and its workers.
Miguel Ángel Gimeno, currently
director of ground operations at
Vueling, will be the new CEO of South
Europe Ground Services (SOEGS).

Acquires Prospect
Airport Services
Unifi Aviation is strengthening its
position as the top aviation service
company in the United States with
the acquisition of Prospect Airport
Services. Prospect has key operations
at airports in more than 30 cities,
including Chicago; Dallas, Texas;
Newark, New Jersey.
Skytanking Unveils Fully
Electric 40,000-Liter
Refueling Truck
Skytanking has unveiled a fully
electric 40,000-liter aviation refueling
truck at Stuttgart Airport
(STR). The milestone is the result
of a collaborative effort between
Skytanking, the airport and RWTH
University of Aachen.

Robert and Mary Strobel founded
Prospect Airport Services in 1966.
Unifi says it is proud to partner with
the Strobels' children, CEO Vicki
Strobel and senior vice president
Michael Strobel, as it welcomes Prospect
to the Unifi family. Unifi and
Prospect will work to integrate the
two companies over the next 12 to
18 months. Unifi says there will be
no reduction in workforce.
