Joseph Mirabile joined United Safety in 2011 and
from the very beginning had a passion for seeking
out solutions to problems faced by the transit
industry. He was appointedpresident and CEO

During COVID-19, Mirabile led the creation
of an active air purification unit specifically for
rolling stock application that is now being used
in public transit systems across North America.
Mirabile has made a career out of solving
transit problems as they come. During the pandemic,
he made advances to leverage United Safety's
resources to help print 3D face shields for
first responders and bus operators across North
America to help keep them safe during the pandemic.
Recently, Mirabile has been on a mission
to revolutionize the bus seating market both for
operators and passengers. To help protect the
drivers' health, Mirabile has led the United Safety
team to push for a way to create a safer and more
comfortable ride for bus operators.
As an outcome to his efforts, the Infinity Rise
Semi-Active Seat Suspension project launched
in 2023 and is currently being piloted across the

Safety can answer the problems that mass transit
faces and will continue to look for and develop the
best solutions for an industry that is paramount
to the infrastructure of our country.
FAST Fact: At an early age, Mirabile was
exposed to cars and motorcycles, which
sparked a lifelong passion. He loved helping
his dad fix cars.

Amen Mukhlis, P.E., is a senior director of engineering
and construction for the Metropolitan
Transportation Authority (MTA) Construction
and Development, where he manages engineering
design projects and capital construction projects
aimed at building a better transportation system.
The projects Mukhlis spearheads various
types of projects, including flood resiliency and
climate adaptivity in the MTA system, state of
good repair and advancing accessibility, as well
as multiple design and construction projects on
behalf of the MTA.
In addition to Mukhlis' work for the MTA, he
has also worked for and consulted for several engineering,
construction and metro and rail operators.
He has also managed several award-winning
design and construction projects for the MTA,
such as the 2019 national CMAA project of the
year for innovative flood resiliency in Manhattan,
the 2022 ACE award for the design of Fan Plant
7204, the 2022 CMAA Owner Managed project
of the year.

his time to help the underprivileged and
dedicates a great amount of time and resources
helping new immigrant engineers and those who
came from metro and rail backgrounds in their
countries via mentoring and training that can
make them ready for a job in the industry. In
the past few years, Mukhlis mentored more than
50 high schoolers and 20 college students from
unprivileged backgrounds, putting them at the
path of success and the path of leaving an impact
on their industry and community.
Fast Fact: Mukhils has a strong affinity for the
color black and collects fridge magnets from
each of his travel destinations as a memento.
