BART

BART HAS finalized a $1.2-billion FTA grant agreement.

FTA awards grant agreements to Minneapolis Southwest
LRT, BART Transbay Corridor Core Capacity projects
▶ The

Federal Transit Administration (FTA) has finalized two grant agreements worth a
combined $2.13 billion for projects in San Francisco and Minneapolis. Bay Area Rapid
Transit District (BART) secured $1.2 billion for the Transbay Corridor Core Capacity
project in San Francisco, Calif., which is BART's long-term effort to reduce crowding and
increase service across the Bay. Minnesota's Metropolitan Council secured $928.8 million for the Southwest Light Rail Transit Project in Minneapolis, Minn., which will extend
the existing Green Line, served by Metro Transit, 14.5 miles. The funds are committed
through FTA's Capital Investment Grants Program.

resources director, where he
will lead TARTA's human capital
components including hiring and
workforce training; employee
and labor relations; employee
engagement; wellness initiatives;
employee recognition directives;
performance management; and
organizational development.
He most recently served as the
director of human resources at
the Capital Area Transit System
in Baton Rouge, La. He also held
an executive level position in
human resources at the Kansas
City Area Transit Authority, where
he introduced the agency's first
annual Diversity and Inclusion
Conference.

Shetty to be
the agency's
executive
Shetty
director of
operations.
With 20 years of
experience in strategic operations,
he will play a critical role as Sound
Transit expands its service, including
more than doubling the reach of
Link light rail by 2024 and continuing
to develop new Stride bus rapid
transit services. He will oversee
transportation and maintenance;
facilities and system maintenance;
operations assets and technology;
and operations support services.
Shetty has held several leadership
positions in the manufacturing and
supply chain roles in automotive,
construction equipment and
consumer goods industries. He
was most recently vice president
of supply chain for PMI Worldwide,
where he led during a period of
significant revenue growth.
