For technician Randy Kaiser
at Rost Motor, Inc. in
Mason, Iowa, the MuellerKueps Wheel Weight Pliers
helped save a little time. He
found that to use the tool, he just had to
grab the wheel weights and give them
a twist. "Instead of having to dig and
pry to remove old wheel weights and
possibly cause damage to an expensive
wheel in the process, you simply grab
the weight, give it a little twist, and it
pops right off," Kaiser says. Rost Motor
is a new car dealership that works on
all vehicle brands, in addition to four
wheelers and motorcycles. Mounting

USING THE PROPER
TOOL CAN SAVE
YOUR HOSE CLAMPS
When it comes to
replacing a hose, some
technicians believe that the hose clamps
must also be removed and replaced. That's
because they are likely using screwdrivers,
normal pliers, or other tools that make it
difficult to grab and remove hose clamps
without damaging or breaking them.
However, tools like KNIPEX's Hose Clamp
Pliers are equipped for grabbing onto hose
clamps, and taking them off and putting
them back onto the connection without
cutting or destroying them. Whereas regular
pliers may make it hard to grab onto hose
clamps in confined areas, the Hose Clamp
Pliers have a recessed area and rotating
tips that easily grab onto the clamp and
maneuver between different angles.

The tools and
equipment found in automotive shops are
constantly evolving and changing. Though
some tools seem like they'll never change,
there's always room for improvement.
According to Randy Kaiser, a technician
with Rost Motor, Inc. in Manson, Iowa,
the Milwaukee 1/2" Drive 46-pc Ratchet
and Socket Set has made a change for
the better. "The sockets in this set aren't
the traditional cylindrical shape," Kaiser
explains. "The bottom portion that goes
over the nut or bolt head is round, but that
tapers off to a square shape on the other
end." Kaiser says this new design gives
him the ability to easily turn the sockets by
hand, saving him time and energy.
