tragic jester Hi, MHD! Thank you for showing these cases. Can you explain the reason for the choice of the first premolar site over the cuspid site for the anterior implants? I thought cuspid location is the most preferable. Does this distribution not create an anterior cantilever when the patient bites into things? Thanks in advance! ■ Member Since: 10/21/04 Post: 8 of 156 3/4/2021 mhd2013 Good question! The first premolar site was an absolute slam-dunk site, so I valued available bone and ease of placement over having the anterior implants slightly more mesial. The A-P spread is still excellent in this case and the major forces of chewing occur in the posterior. I can tell you from experience that this denture absolutely will not rock/unseat in function because of how retentive the components are with such good A-P spread. However, you still want to make sure that the denture has excellent tissue support everywhere (and especially in the anterior) to ensure this. To give you a comparison, this upper palate-less overdenture case was just seen for a 6-month post insertion follow-up. He has to pry them out of his mouth. He said the denture sometimes slightly moves, but only when he is eating caramels. ■ Member Since: 01/20/14 Posts: 9 and 10 of 156 3/5/2021 FREE FACTS, circle 4 on card dentaltown.com \\ MAY 2021 DT0521_MB1_Dentures.indd 21 21 4/27/21 9:47 AMhttp://garrisondental.com http://www.dentaltown.com
