MESSAGE BOARD 1 slipperyrockdoc Post: 5 of 26 8/4/2023 How did you decide which implant would be the engaging Ti base? Are you concerned at all about non-engaging Ti bases allowing for the stress to be put on the screws? This always makes me nervous, so I'd like to hear your thoughts. I hate cementing with implants! n mhd2013 Posts: 7-9 of 26 8/5/2023 Here is my logic: My experience with OsteoGen is that it produces better-quality bone with a higher turnover rate than allograft-i.e., less residual graft particles at three months and nice-density bone. However, it does not have great space maintenance. Therefore, I place the OsteoGen against native bone, followed by the layer of allograft for space maintenance and bulk to protect the OsteoGen as it integrates. The nuances are what made this whole case Calvin Bessonet Post: 3 of 26 8/4/2023 Nice work! I have never used OsteoGen strips. In my mind, it seems like you would want the particulate graft on the host bone and the strip over that to double as a barrier. I have no idea. Just asking why you placed the strip first. n work. I needed a short and narrow implant for that #4 site. The only 3.8-diameter implant that Biohorizons makes in a 7.5 mm length is a tissue-level implant. Therefore, I had no choice but to use a tissue level. Anything wider in diameter or longer would not have worked for the case. There are very few systems that offer 3.8 by 7.5 or narrower/shorter implant combinations. Did you notice that I restored the tissue-level implant as if it were a bone-level one? That's one nuance Biohorizons offers that other implants don't. Advantages of tissue-level implants: * Can get a wider/stronger platform while maintaining a narrower implant body. * Easy and cheap to restore with a stock abutment. drockdds Post: 4 of 26 8/4/2023 What are the advantages/disadvantages of using tissue-level vs. bone-level implants? Do you prefer one over the other? n * Moves microgap away from the bone. They are the OG of platform switching ... just via a vertical dimension instead of horizontal. Disadvantages of tissue-level implants: * The margin is on the implant. There is no flexibility in this regard. OCTOBER 2023 | 26 | DENTALTOWN.COMhttp://www.DENTALTOWN.COM
