New Office Design/Layout Search: New Office Downsizing and Need to Redesign a New Office Search: Downsizing New Office t New Office Design - Thoughts? Found a place to lease that's a 1,250-square-foot vanilla box (which apparently only has 1,116 square feet of usable space). Had a big box dental supply chain come up with a draft design to see if I could fit into the space and see if they could recreate my design ideas. After some revisions, here's what I have so far. Some things to note: * There's a basement downstairs that's the same layout and square footage as this upstairs space; we plan to put mechanicals down there. Landlord only wants basement to be used for storage, so we would avoiding building anything major down there. * Need to put a toothbrushing station somewhere. * Probably need a door leading to the back clinical area, right? * Should I move the reception desk more toward the front to give me some more space in the back, thereby eliminating some reception seating? * There's a strong possibility that we could expand the consult area by building over the stairs, so it might end up being bigger than pictured. Do you think this floorplan could work? How's the flow? What am I missing? I'm a rookie, so I need all the help I can get! Thanks! If you eliminate the lunchroom and the doctor's office at the upper right corner of the drawing, you can easily add one more ortho chair and a brushing station there. None of my offices have a lunchroom because we close the office from 1-2 p.m. for lunch. Your staff can eat in the basement. You don't need a door to separate the front and the back office. My office has that door but it is always opened during clinic hours to allow better patient flow. By keeping everything simple, you will save a lot of money and you won't need to start a lot of new cases in order to break even... and you will start making profit in a few months. n JUL 29 2013 firm Member Since: 08/08/05 Post: 3 of 29 You'll want to a have dividing door between front and back for privacy. I would also try to create private rooms instead of one large open bay. You don't want to hear people complaining in a small office. Divide it up as much as possible. Maybe two rooms with two chairs or one room with three chairs, another with one. Is there a second bathroom? You'll need one. Nobody wants to see the doc coming out of the restroom after taking a deuce. Maybe eliminate some of that space at the front desk behind the chairs, make the consult room smaller - you don't need a chair in there. Create a private records/diagnosis room. I think you'll have to have a three-chair open bar. If you can keep a clean desk, you could also use that room as your private office.
