message board Challenging Skeletal Class 2 Case with Impacted U3s A Townie wonders if his patient should be an extraction case str8nerinva Member Since: 03/12/08 Post: 1 of 24 Introduction: Patient is now 11.6 years. Referred to our office at age 8.7 by dentist who recognized problems. Crossbite UR6 and developing crowding. RME done in 2014, followed by crossbite elastic for UR6. Now: * Molar relationship: End-on right, Class I left. * Skeletal Class II with retrognathic mandible. * Sig. deep bite anteriorly. * Crowding: Severe upper arch with very little room for upper 3s. 5mm lower arch crowding. * Lower 4s blocked labially in crossbite. * Lower 5s, 6s tipped lingually a bit. * Incisor proclination: upper very upright, lower normal. * Upper right and left 3s ectopic to the palatal side, R>L. (See CBCT views.) Thoughts on treatment? ■ 12/7/2017 fesdds Member Since: 05/22/08 Post: 2 of 24 str8nerinva Member Since: 03/12/08 Post: 3 of 24 Were the UCs extracted, or exfoliated on their own? ■ 12/7/2017 On their own. Planning to have that done after expansion, but not needed. Interesting that on the 2015 pan in the comparison pic, the U3s were a minor red flag, not a huge one. Nothing else to do except maybe extract UDs. ■ 12/7/2017 22 JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2018 // orthotown.comhttp://www.orthotown.com
