message board Would You Attempt Non-Extraction on This Case? See how Townies answered this common treatment question mchun Member Since: 02/26/13 Post: 1 of 17 This patient is 12 years old and I would like thoughts about approaching this case either non-extraction with expansion vs. extraction ... and which teeth to extract. Thank you in advance for your input. ■ 3/7/2019 justinudm Member Since: 09/29/14 Post: 2 of 17 I would be thinking extractions. The lower second molars don't appear to have room to fully erupt. Likely an U4s/L5s extraction case. Or possibly a 5s extractions case, depending on your mechanics. ■ 3/7/2019 zxzxzx Member Since: 02/28/03 Post: 3 of 17 Airway looks suspicious: large adenoids and maybe large tonsils. Ask any sleep questions of the parents? Does the general dentist worship in the Church of Rouse? For me, this is a Ludwig-style TAD-based expander (two palatal screws). Then extract the 5s and leave the expander in for anchorage to stabilize the upper 6s. Since I am an MBT guy (also Tip Edge), I would turn the lower incisors upside-down to give him labial crown torque to help protract the molars. ■ 3/7/2019 20 OCTOBER 2019 // orthotown.comhttp://www.orthotown.com
