message board Conventional or Aligners Townies discuss whether this older patient would comply with aligner therapy or thrive under traditional treatment STR8 2TH Member Since: 08/12/05 Post: 1 of 16 Dear all, advice and suggestions, please. This 47-year-old patient has been referred to me by her prosthodontist and MFO surgeon, to align the teeth before placing implant and placing crowns as required. She has a medical history of Sjogren's syndrome as well as lupus. Both the prosthodontist and the surgeon have no problem with her medical history. The patient has currently decided on going ahead with treatment with ceramic braces. I would like to know if there's a case to be made to persuade her to rather do the treatment with aligners? (Taking into account the medical history and amount of ceramic work already in place.) I only plan at this stage to place attachments on natural teeth where needed. Thank you. ■ 7/18/2019 davidharnick Member Since: 08/28/02 Post: 2 of 16 Exactly why would you consider fi xed? Could be abusive to both you and the patient. I wouldn't consider fi xed unless you don't have experience with aligners. Do a 3D simulation and present the fi nal solution to the team. Good luck. ■ 7/18/2019 20 JULY/AUGUST 2022 // orthotown.comhttps://www.orthotown.com/messageboard/thread.aspx?s=6&f=693&t=331604&g=1 http://www.orthotown.com
