I find this type of case to be very difficult. If you
have any insights, I would love to hear them!
12.5-year-old boy. Partial Class II dental but
Class I skeletal with a very prominent chin button.
Very brachyfacial. Only mild crowding. The main
problem is the 100%+ overbite with palatal impingement.
Any ideas? n

I'd start off with upper and lower utility arches,
turbos on the 4s. Once you have some bite opening,
bond the rest, band 7s and fully level the arches. n
of one right now to show. I would expect and want
lower incisor proclination. Good luck. n

I would start off with upper 2-by-4 and strong
anchor bends at the molars using Aussie wire. Bite
should open and help CL2. Once the bite is open, get
on the lower. Bread-and-butter light-wire case. n

I like to put all my braces on at once, but this looks
like a case that I would start with the upper first if
going straight into brackets. But I think David's HSD
or a Motion 2 distalizer would be the best start in
this case. n

U1s are in a good vertical position; I would want

Quite a forward rotator! I have used the Harnick
Sectional Distalizer with the posterior section from
4 to 6/7 rather than the U3s. Has more of an extrusive
force and bite-opening effect. Sorry, can't think
to maintain that. Intruding the maxillary incisors
would not look good on this kid. Start the upper
only, level maxillary arch, impress for removable bite
plane. Then start on lower when you deliver the bite
plane. Class II elastics while leveling the mandibular
arch. Forsus appliance if needed. Hawley with a bite
plane for maxillary retention. n
