The fifth annual Spud Nation
Throwdown will highlight the Las Vegas
food scene, as three local chefs compete
for the " Top Spud " title. The chefs will
demonstrate their skills and creativity
by whipping up a potato-focused, plantbased
dish.
This year's competition will be hosted
by Chef Jeff Henderson, award-winning
chef, bestselling author and creator of
Food Network's reality series " The Chef
Jeff Project. " He's also the host of " Family
Style with Chef Jeff " and the star of " Flip
My Food with Chef Jeff. "
From humble beginnings in South
Central Los Angeles, to life as an
imprisoned drug dealer, and then as
an award-winning celebrity chef and
best-selling author, Henderson is a
role model for anyone needing the
encouragement to reinvent themselves.
Since he discovered his passion and gift
for cooking in the unlikeliest of places -
prison - he has completely turned his
life around, and today serves as a voice
for self-transformation.
Henderson will interview the chefs as
they prepare their dishes and will speak
with the judges to get their insight on
the ingredients and cooking techniques
being used. Don't miss the action on the
Innovation Hub Stage from 5 to 6:15
p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, during the Kickoff
Reception.
On Wednesday, Jan. 15, Henderson
will handle the cooking himself during
a live, interactive demo on the Expo
Stage. Come by and watch as Chef Jeff
shows off his love for potatoes and
demonstrates how to make his Smokey
Warm Vichyssoise Soup with Chives for a
fun twist on this classic potato dish.
