Baltic Peat Substrates.
WHAT IS BALTIC PEAT
Baltic white peat moss is harvested from the
countries of Latvia and Estonia in northern
Europe. The peat is cut into blocks and
allowed to remain on the bogs for two years,
undergoing freeze/thaw cycles. This aging
process stabilizes the physical structure of the
peat which preserves the unique pores in the
peat fiber, resulting in superior air capacity
and water retention in our substrates. Our
peat is graded to multiple lengths from
1 mm to 40 mm. These different grades can
be blended in careful proportions to provide
specific physical properties for nearly any crop.
LESS PERLITE
Sakata Solutions peat based substrates are
available with perlite or as perlite free mixes.
In the mixes containing perlite, growers will
note less perlite than other competitors'
brands. This feature is possible due to the
careful blending of peat fibers to provide
the perfect air porosity with minimal perlite
added. Our standard mixes are also available
in a perlite free option with the same air
porosity and water holding capacity as the
perlite amended mixes. Perlite free is an
excellent option for the end user who prefers
a substrate that completely incorporates into
the landscape environment.
SAKATA SOLUTIONS®
PLUG & GERMINATION
Intended for germination and propagation of
seeds and cuttings in trays or Ellepots. This
is a finely textured substrate that provides
optimal air space and water retention for
successful seed germination or rooting of
cuttings. Balanced for pH, macronutrients
and micronutrients included along with
wetting agent. Growing vegetable
transplants? Ask about our Plug &
Germination - Vegetable Mix with
low nitrogen.
SAKATA SOLUTIONS®
ALL PURPOSE
Our general purpose mix
formulated with a blend of peat
moss fiber lengths to provide high
aeration without sacrificing excellent
water retention. This formulation is
ideal for packs, 4 " pots through gallons,
and hanging baskets for crops that prefer
more moisture. All Purpose is pH balanced,
contains macro and micronutrients and
wetting agent.
SAKATA SOLUTIONS®
ULTIMATE POROSITY
Ultimate Porosity is our highest porosity mix
designed for larger containers and plants
that prefer a drier growing substrate. Both
our perlite amended mix and the perlite free
option contain a blend of medium to coarse
peat fibers resulting in high air capacity. Great
for longer term crops, container growing, and
large hanging baskets. Complete with lime for
pH balance, macro and minor nutrients and
wetting agent.
