MANTS ANNOUNCES 2023 DATES
Mid-Atlantic Nursery Trade Show (MANTS) has announced its dates
for 2023. The trade show is scheduled to meet Jan. 11-13, 2023 at the
Baltimore Convention Center.
Last month, MANTS 2022 convened at the Baltimore Convention
Center Jan. 5-7 to jump-start the 2022 green industry trade show
season bringing together horticulture industry leaders from around the
country.
According to conference organizers, MANTS 2022 welcomed more
than 5,700 on-site attendees (including exhibitors) for three days of
in-person meetings, networking, and business. Attendees from 46
states had the opportunity to explore new products, technology, and
equipment and reconnect with more than 825 exhibiting companies that
had a presence on this year's show floor.
" While our foot traffic was lighter than in pre-pandemic times, I'm
extremely proud that we were able to bring together green industry
suppliers and buyers in Baltimore this year, " said MANTS Executive Vice
President Vanessa A. Finney. " Despite the snow, flight cancellations,
interstate closures, COVID, and other factors out of our collective
control, our exhibitors and buyers went to great lengths to be with us
and return to the in-person connections that are a hallmark of MANTS.

INDUSTRY ICON GLENN GOLDSMITH PASSES AWAY
On Dec. 19, 2021, Joel Goldsmith,
the former president/CEO of Goldsmith
Seeds, announced on Facebook that his
father, Glenn Goldsmith, the founder of
Goldsmith Seeds, had passed away on
Dec. 18. He was 93.
Glenn was an industry icon who
founded Goldsmith Seeds along with
his wife, Jane, in Gilroy, California,
back in 1962. Throughout his career,
Glenn was recognized as an innovator
who developed cutting edge genetics
and is credited with creating Pack
Trials, the precursor to California
Spring Trials (CAST).
" He lived a wonderful life, was a positive force in the world, and had
a positive impact on so many that he came in contact with, " Joel said in
his Facebook post.
Over the years, Joel, along with two of his brothers, Richard and Jim,
also entered the family business. After nearly 50 years, the company
was acquired by Syngenta in 2008.
Global Head of Syngenta Flowers Mark Schermer released a statement
saying, " The Syngenta Flowers team would like to acknowledge Glenn's
legacy and his inspiration that is still felt in our organization to this
moment. We will always cherish this legacy and wish the Goldsmith
family peace during this time. "
Donations in Glenn's memory can be made to the National Tropical
Botanic Garden (NTBG.org) or Kauai Hospice (KauaiHospice.org).
