Making the Most of Your Cultivate'21 Experience

AmericanHort is excited to host Cultivate'21,
the green industry's premier trade show and
conference, July 10-13 in Columbus, Ohio,
in what may be the first all-industry face-toface
conference since the pandemic started.
You can expect some added health and safety
protocols to ensure a safe and comfortable
experience for everyone. For those planning to
make the trip, we want to share some not-tobe-missed
programming highlights.
Sign up for an industry production tour
or a workshop on Saturday, July 10 to gain
inspiration to try new things in your own
business.
Industry Production Tours
Join the Greenhouse Production Tour to
learn about the vertically integrated supply
chain of Casa Verde Growers and The Pettiti
Garden Center stores in northeast Ohio,
while also visiting Thorsen's Greenhouse, the
exclusive supplier to Columbus' Costco stores.
New this year is the Landscape Zoo Tour
at the world-renowned Columbus Zoo and
Aquarium where participants discover what
it takes to handle the intricacies of plant
selection and care in a 588-acre facility. The
Garden Center Retail Tour features stops at
Oakland Nursery, Wilson's Garden Center, and
A Proper Garden, a boutique garden retailer
and cafe. The Nursery Production Tour is also
headed to the northern lakes region of Ohio,
with tour stops at Bluestone Perennials, North
Coast Perennials and Ridge Manor Nursery.
Hands-On Workshops
If a tour is not for you, sign up for one of
the innovative workshops. Those wanting
to learn more about pest management
should register for the Pest Diagnostics and
Technology Workshop, a two-part program
led by IPM expert Suzanne Wainwright-Evans
of Buglady Consulting. The Garden Retail
Workshop will visit three local horticulture
retail environments who are catering to
today's modern consumer, including the
recently opened Greendigs, an atypical plant
retailer focused on experiential gardening
with an interactive studio designed by
celebrity designer David Stark. Reconnect
with nature during the Moss Wall Workshop
where you can tap into your creativity to build
a biophilic wall. There are also two half-day
programs especially for HR professionals on
talent management and company culture
which can purchased as a full-day event at a
discounted rate.
The Hemp Conference at Cultivate
New this year is The Hemp Conference
at Cultivate, a two-day event held prior to
the opening of Cultivate'21. This gathering
is designed for novice and expert growers
alike as it will feature programming, products
and services to help you become a better
hemp grower. Registration includes an
Expo Only pass to Cultivate, and Cultivate
All-Access Passes are available for up to a

World-Class Education
Education is a Cultivate hallmark, with more
than 110+ educational offerings for All-Access
Pass holders. Sessions are organized by key

Center stage when visiting the trade show
floor and more than 650 exhibitors. " We're

Cultivate on the tHRIve Knowledge Center
stage where you can get a front-row seat to

DÜMMEN ORANGE EXECUTIVE MOVES TO VAUGHAN'S,
NEW RETAIL DIRECTOR HIRED
On May 13, Dümmen Orange announced two major developments within
the company's North American team.
Rebecca Lusk, a 19-year Dümmen Orange employee and director of retail
accounts, will be joining Vaughan's Horticulture as part of its key account
team. Marta Maria Garcia, an experienced corporate
retail marketing executive, is set to become the new
retail director of Dümmen Orange North America.
Lusk was an instrumental member of the team that
built Dümmen Orange North America into a global
industry leader. She was the first employee of Dümmen
USA and carried out a wide range of tasks for the
organization as she supported the company's growth over the past two

decades. Her experience and dedication to all the Dümmen brands makes
her well-equipped for this new role with Vaughan's.
Marta Maria Garcia brings valuable insight to
Dümmen Orange gained from her previous management
experience at Nature's Way Farms, Designer Cut
Flowers, Costa Farms and Bacardi. Her track record
of creating and launching retail programs has been
recognized by many throughout the horticulture
industry. Garcia's marketing acumen includes product
categories like tropicals, foliage and cut flowers, all of
which complement Dümmen's success in annuals and perennials.
Given the importance of these new leadership changes and to ensure
a smooth transition, Lusk and Garcia will be working side by side for the
next five months.
