INTRODUCING THE MOST
POWERFUL MITE PROGRAM YET
ONLINE GARDEN FESTIVAL TO TAKE
PLACE THIS MONTH
The Great
Grow Along, a
new, three-day
online event,
will take place
March 19-21.
The event
is designed to connect with the 16 million new
gardeners in 2020 and ensure they become
lifelong gardeners. Lifestyle tastemakers, plant
gurus, and cutting-edge designers will offer
engaging and accessible garden content to help
inexperienced gardeners be successful and fall
in love with the hobby.
" We have a historic opportunity to lift the
entire industry by cementing millions of new
gardeners into the hobby, " said LaManda Joy,
founder of City Grange in Chicago and the
brains behind the new show. " Our Great Grow
Along vision centers on education. For their
future - and ours - we seek to empower new
gardeners by honing their skills. "
The Great Grow Along offers more than 30
sessions with a variety of speakers for less than
$30 per ticket.
Top speakers include:
* Author and interior stylist Hilton Carter
* 'Farmer Nick' Cutsumpas
* David Mizijewski of the National Wildlife
Federation
* Author and foodscaping expert Brie Arthur
Experts from organizations such as The
Davey Tree Expert Co., Bonide, Bushel and
Berry, Power Planter, Timber Press, Cool
Springs Press, Bloomscape and American
Meadows will participate as well.
Six tracks will be offered over the three
days, including:
* Edible Gardening: Edibles, seed starting,
fruit, veggies
* Urban Gardening: Building raised
beds, small space fruit, and all your
small space gardening needs
* Pollinators & Plants: Understanding
natives, pollinators, plant selection
* DIY Landscaping: Tree care basics,
think like a landscape designer,
container design
* Houseplants: Fundamentals, light,
propagation, pet-safe plants
* Dig Deeper: Organics, soil testing,
compost, xeriscaping, permaculture,
chickens
" Our partners and non-profit champions
are in this together to advance their missions,
spread the word about the Great Grow Along,
and engage our attendees in their exciting
work, " Joy said.

CONSOLIDATE DIVISIONS IN
CHICAGOLAND LOCATION
McHutchison and Vaughan's Horticulture
have announced their long-term commitment
to the Chicago region by consolidating each
company's young plant division into one
Chicagoland office in the western suburb of
Naperville.
" This is an exciting market for us, " said
Nathan Lamkey, president of McHutchison and
Vaughan's Horticulture. " From a business and
growth perspective, Chicago is an excellent area
for our industry and the perfect location for a
hub. This decision will help us better support
our customers as we move forward. "
Horticulturally, Chicago is the center of
where things are happening, so having a strong
presence there for both companies makes
perfect sense. Some well-known universities in
the region have a strong legacy in horticulture
programs and there is an experienced talent
base that comes with being in the Midwest's
largest city.
Highly skilled staff are connected to each
company's customer base in the horticulture
industry and it makes for a competitive
marketplace. The Midwest is an important
growing region for numerous brands that
McHutchison and Vaughan's Horticulture
represent as full-service brokers.

efficient, " said Amy Edmeier, director of operations
for the plant divisions of both McHutchison and
Vaughan's Horticulture. " Combined, our two
companies employ 106 people and this recent
consolidation added five management positions
to our Naperville office which makes us even more
helpful to our customers. "
McHutchison and Vaughan's Horticulture
are still looking to expand in the Chicagoland
area. Both companies are hiring for internal
staff positions such as customer service
representatives.
