KEITH CABLE NAMED
PRESIDENT OF DÜMMEN
ORANGE NORTH AMERICAN
OPERATIONS
Keith Cable has assumed leadership
of the North American region for
Dümmen Orange, as the breeding
company continues to expand its
product portfolio and explore new
opportunities to engage with a wider
range of growers and retailers.
With its global headquarters
located in the Netherlands and the
North American offices in Ohio, Dümmen Orange has added a new role
to create a single point of leadership in North America.
This new leadership structure will bring the activities of Dümmen
Orange into better alignment with the needs of customers, thanks
in part to the insights provided from the broker business units of
McHutchison Corp. and Vaughan's Horticulture, which were acquired
in 2017.
Ultimately, this will allow all three companies to expand the base
knowledge of their respective market sectors and improve product
and service quality and speed in order to meet the ever-changing
needs of growers and retailers. All three business units will continue
to operate independently and report to the new North American
role and customers will experience no change in their day-to-day
interactions.
COLLEGE PLANT INITIATIVE RECEIVES SUPPORT FROM
PROVEN WINNERS
For the second year, Proven Winners is supporting the Collegiate
Plant Initiative (CPI), a student-run organization founded at the
University of Florida with the goal of connecting college students with
plants and opportunities in the horticulture industry.
Proven Winners is providing 6,000 pots of its Annual of the Year,
'Lemon Coral' sedum, to give away at CPI's Plant Drops on six
university campuses this year.
CPI's initiatives target college students who have an interest in
plants but don't have much experience growing or shopping for them.
" By showing these students how easy it can be to select and take
care of plants, we are encouraging the purchase of plants and related
goods, " according to the Collegiate Plant Initiative's website.
Plant Drops take place in the spring and fall at participating
universities. One thousand plants are distributed with record-setting
speed to high-energy crowds of students gathered in the center of their
college campuses. The fastest giveaway so far took just 2 ½ minutes.
Basic care instructions are provided with the plants to help the students
grow them successfully.
CPI student leaders will distribute 'Lemon Coral' sedum at these six
Plant Drops in 2019:

* University of Georgia, April 25
* University of Michigan, September 23
* Michigan State University, September 24
* The Ohio State University, September 25

CYCLAMEN DEAL
Syngenta Flowers,
LLC and Varinova
Operations B.V.
have signed a new
agreement for
Syngenta Flowers to
become the exclusive
sales and marketing channel for Varinova cyclamen varieties in the U.S.
and Canada.
Varinova's cyclamen portfolio and breeding pipeline will allow Syngenta
Flowers to continue its strong presence in the cyclamen market and
support growers with a full range of top-tier varieties.
" The combination of Varinova and Syngenta cyclamen genetics will
continue to support Syngenta as a market leader in cyclamen as well as
bring continual innovation and value to our grower and broker partners
in North America, " said Scott Valentine, head of Syngenta Flowers in
North America.
This combined offering also leverages best-in-class technical support
from both companies with Varinova providing technical support to North
American growers in conjunction with Syngenta's own technical expertise
to give growers a full package of genetics and technical growing support.
