has assumed leadership
of the Washington,
D.C.-based advocacy
team, transitioning
that role from longtime
industry advocate
Craig Regelbrugge.
Regelbrugge continues
in an executive advisory
role with AmericanHort,
supporting the advocacy
and research team but
primarily focusing on
phytosanitary/plant
health and trade issues.
Mika joined
AmericanHort in June 2023 with deep experience and
relationships in Washington, having worked for elected
officials, agriculture trade associations and industry
companies, including Tyson, where he was director
of their D.C. advocacy program. He spent the past six
months traveling the industry, attending industry
events, meeting AmericanHort members and learning
more about the industry.
Additionally, Rachel Pick has joined AmericanHort as senior
manager for advocacy and government affairs, reporting to
Mika in AmericanHort's Washington, D.C., office. An Iowa
native, Pick brings experience in agricultural policy and
government affairs. She has served under Senator Chuck
Grassley (R-IA), on staff at the U.S. Department of Agriculture
(USDA) during Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue's tenure,
worked with the Senate Sergeant of Arms, and most recently,
a leadership role with U.S. Farmers & Ranchers in Action.
Studio M closes its doors
After 35 years in business, outdoor décor and gift brand
Studio M ceases operations in April 2024. In an email sent
to customers, the company said the decision is the result
of enduring financial hardships, further intensified by the
challenges of the pandemic.
" It has been an incredible journey filled with creativity,
challenges, and countless memories, " said Sue Todd,
co-founder of Studio M. " We are deeply grateful to the
many talented employees, artists, vendors, sales agencies,
retailers, and customers who have made this journey so
memorable and rewarding. "

Studio M's roots go back to 1989 with the invention of
the MailWraps magnetic mailbox cover, then bringing other
licensed artwork to a wide variety of categories for the home
and garden - BreezeArt flags, MatMates interchangeable
mats, Floor Flair vinyl rugs, Yard DeSigns address signs, Door
Décor, Art Pots, Art Planters and their patented Art Poles.
Vaughan's, McHutchison name
new president
Ken Turrentine has been named president of
McHutchison and Vaughan's Horticulture, a position in
which he will lead both companies.
With 20 years of professional experience working in
the horticultural industry, Turrentine is no stranger to
McHutchison or Vaughan's Horticulture. He previously
served as a key account sales manager and western
regional sales manager for Vaughan's Horticulture from
2019 to 2022.
Most recently, Turrentine worked for Philips Horticultural
LED Solutions as U.S. commercial lead and senior director
of business development in North America.
Previously, Turrentine served as marketing director for
Central Life Sciences, a division of Central Garden and Pet,
and in various sales and marketing roles with Syngenta and
Griffin Greenhouse Supplies.
A military veteran, Turrentine served in the U.S. Marine
Corps Forces Reserve for almost 10 years.
