Armstrong Garden Centers,
Dümmen Orange Hand Out Orchids
to Frontline Health Care Workers
Garden Center Delivers Free Bouquets
Nunan Florist & Greenhouses in Georgetown,
Massachusetts, launched a program to deliver free bouquets
to nominated recipients.
Called Smile Neighbor, the program allows visitors to
their website to nominate someone to receive a free " Smile
Bouquet. " Visitors enter their name and email address, and
then the name and some comments about the person they
nominate to receive a bouquet.
When a nominee is selected, Nunan's emails the
nominator for the recipient's delivery address.
Three names are randomly drawn each week. For more

Armstrong Garden Centers and Dümmen Orange recently
teamed up to show their support to area frontline health care
workers in California.
More than 400 orchids and 100 hanging baskets were
handed out to medical personnel at Primary Care Associates
(PCA) Medical Group in Vista, California, and at Villa
Monticello Assisted Living Memory Care Facility for Seniors in
Escondido, California.
The COVID-19 pandemic has greatly impacted everyone in
the U.S. and around the world, especially at medical facilities
and senior care centers.
" We really wanted to show our gratitude to the medical
community in how they have all stepped up to the challenge
in caring for our sick and elderly under very trying conditions, "
said Heather VonAllmen, Dümmen Orange western sales
manager for tropicals. " Thanks to the generosity of our local
partners at Armstrong Garden Centers, we can help lift the
spirits of area medical personnel who are truly saving lives and
providing critical care for patients battling COVID-19. "
The novel coronavirus remains a concern for people of
all ages but certainly for senior citizens and the immunocompromised,
which is why the medical community remains
vigilant in protecting this high-risk group.
" We wanted to say thank you to the doctors, nurses and
staff that are selflessly serving our communities and provide a
bright spot for patients, " said Desiree Heiman, vice president
of marketing for Armstrong Garden Centers. " May these
flowers brighten the day of those that need it the most today
and in the future. "
Orchids are a diverse and widespread family of flowering
plants with blooms that are colorful and fragrant. Potential
benefits of orchids include them being natural air purifiers,
helping reduce stress by providing a calming influence,
improving sleep quality and being self-care flowers among
other things.

Michigan Garden Plant Tour
Announces 2020 Dates
The 17th annual Michigan Garden Plant Tour offers
commercial growers, landscapers, public garden employees,
and other industry professionals the opportunity to learn
about new and existing plant selections from the major
breeding companies and to better understand how they
perform in different outdoor settings. This year, the tour runs
from July 27 to Aug. 7.
This year, attendees will experience
* A 1-acre display garden featuring new 2021 Proven
Winners and Proven Selections varieties at Four Star
Greenhouse (Carleton, Michigan)
* Over 1,500 varieties, 500 unique hanging basket
and deco pot combinations, and 150 new items for
2020/2021 at Mast Young Plants (Grand Rapids,
Michigan)
* 7 acres and 100,000 plants with over 1,000 varieties that
includes 200 hanging baskets and 150 large containers
in sun and shade at Raker-Roberta's Trial Gardens
(Litchfield, Michigan)
* 1,000 classic and cutting-edge varieties on display and
daily tours of their field and greenhouse operations at
Walters Gardens (Zeeland, Michigan)
* Over 200 varieties of annuals, perennials, and vegetables
being evaluated in the MSU Trial Gardens at the MSU
Horticulture Gardens (East Lansing, Michigan)
