quickly approaching the transition
from growing to harvesting, and growers are keeping a close eye
on the impacts of the late winter storms on crop yields.
In the South, pecan growers are on the lookout for specific
pests and diseases and Lenny Wells, professor of horticulture
and Extension specialist for pecans at the University of Georgia,
shared his thoughts with me. Turn to page 16 to read more on
what Wells shared.
I was also fortunate to speak with Joe Grant, research director
at California Walnut Board & Commission, who also shared his
thoughts on how walnut growers can help protect crops this year.
