Automated filler, sealer for pouches introduced
by Triangle, JDD
Triangle Manufacturing and JDD Packaging have teamed up
to create the new rotary pouch machine, which is designed to fill
three-sided seal, flat pouches and
stand-up pouches (SUP) at speeds
up to 50 pouches per minute
(ppm). The rotary pouch filler is
available in two models: Model
JRPM-8812 and JRPM-81215.
Depending on the type of
product being filled, the Triangle/
JDD Rotary Pouch Machine
utilizes either a Triangle InLine Combination Weigher or other
scale or auger to fill product into pouches. The system includes a
series of stations to pick, open, fill and seal the pre-made pouch.
Other stations include a horizontal in-feed belt to handle all
pouch styles and a pouch out-feed conveyor. Standard features
also include a pouch shaker to help settle product, as well as a
Markem date coder.

Heat and Control releases new dryer/roaster system
Heat and Control, an equipment manufacturer and food
industry supplier, recently released its Rotary Dryer Roaster (RDR)
multizone convection dryer/roaster system.
The RDR provides optimal drying or roasting in a continuous,
gentle and sanitary manner with complete control to produce
quality, uniform results. Utilizing the food industry's recent
technological advances, RDR was developed to capitalize on the
new opportunities for high-volume continuous processing of snack
foods, such as nuts, seeds, and protein/meat-based snacks and
advances Heat and Control's snack line capability, enabling them to
offer an end-to-end solution for seasoned and coated nut snacks.
Unlike static rack ovens, as product is gently tumbled in the
RDR, heated air circulates through the product bed to facilitate
uniform drying/moisture removal or roasting. The design handles
the raw product in a continuous, high-density manner through a
unique flighted drum that ensures positive motion.

Completing the cold chain
The cold chain can be broken in
many different places before it ever
reaches the consumer. It's important
for facility managers of produce
processing plants to control the one
link that they have ultimate authority:
the loading dock. In order to deliver
safe food to consumers, it's vital that
allowing the use of untreated surface water for overhead irrigation
of leafy greens prior to harvest.
The LGMA program has always required growers to test water
because it can be a carrier of pathogens, but the new requirements
now include additional safeguards that ensure farmers take the
following steps:
* Categorize the source of the water.
* Consider how and when water is applied to the crop.
* Conduct testing to assuzre the water is safe for the intended
use.
* Sanitize water if necessary.
* Verify that all of the above precautions have been taken.
the best loading dock equipment and
practices are used. Completing the seal
with industry-leading dock shelters
and implementing a drive-through
loading dock are the best ways to
ensure cold chain integrity.
