ike most publications, the goal of Spudman is to provide
meaningful, useful information to its readers. To do that
requires feedback from you.
Whether it's storage, shipping, planting,
labor, equipment, pesticides, herbicides, disease
control, pest control or any of the other topics
you deal with throughout the year, the best way
for us to help you be more successful is to better
understand what you're dealing with.
The problem is finding time. It's in short supply

for many, but probably none more so than for the
hard-working men and women of agriculture.
Luckily, the means of communication are more
plentiful than at any point in history.
A great way for us to get feedback from you - a lot of you all at
one - is through online surveys. Short, easy, fast surveys in your
email inbox.
Every so often look for an email from Spudman containing a link to
a short survey. We promise, we'll keep them to a handful of questions.
Each survey will address a different topic. We'll share the results in the
following issue of Spudman.
For example, last year, we asked about genetically modified
organisms (GMO). What is your opinion of them? Do you think
they'd sell? What traits in a GMO would be most attractive to you
as a grower?
It was fascinating feedback. While the majority said they'd be
open to planting GMO potatoes, the ratio that thinks they'd be
commercially successful is a little closer to 50/50. Disease resistance
is definitely at the top of the list for grower wants in terms of GMO.
