More than six years ago, I met Eric Parsells of Exertools,
whom I quickly recognized as one of the most progressive
and helpful rehabilitation vendors in the industry, with more
than 30 years of experience in serving athletic trainers,
chiropractors and physical therapists.
Eric has helped me stay ahead of the curve by
introducing me to new clinical technologies. I feel that Eric
has risen to the top because he can help with product
investment decisions and patient programs. He's great
at explaining the research that supports the products he
recommends and is always available to talk on the phone.
Recently Eric introduced me to the VibraCool
devices which involve the use of low level vibration
instruments that can be wrapped on the body with a cold
or warm pack placed over injured or painful areas. These
devices resonate and the vibration waves pass through the
hot or cold pack while pressed against tissue. I can place
the VibraCool over areas where I just released adhesion
and fascial restrictions, and the patient can progress to
exercises over the affected area. These products can also
be provided for continued home care.
Additionally, Eric introduced me to a new myofascial
decompression (negative pressure) machine called the 6D
Action - it offers traditional Chinese static cupping with
variable pressure suction and a dynamic roller ball handle for
fascial release. This enhances the patient experience of getting
out of pain and reducing inflammation/swelling from trauma.
Eric, thank you for helping me find solutions, knowledge,
and hope for my patients.

USING WATER TO ENHANCE RECOVERY
FOR ATHLETES
Using a hot or cold pool after a workout can have a
soothing effect on athletes because the natural properties of
water stimulate circulation and work to reduce inflammation.
Cold therapy can have impressive benefits to athletes, by
using both passive recovery and active recovery techniques.
Much like cold water, warm water is also known to provide
the same soothing environment that can help athletes heal
quickly and effectively. Warm water works to increase blood
flow and circulation which can help treat and prevent some
chronic injuries and conditions.
3 BENEFITS OF ACTIVE RECOVERY IN HOT AND COLD
PLUNGES
1
....It's effective: Athletes are ready for their next hard ..........
....workout even more so than if they just rested for a
full day.
2
..It's efficient: By actively moving joints and muscles, even
..on a recovery day, you are able to get more out of them.

While recovering in
the water, athletes
can efficiently rest
muscles while also
strengthening them
and maintaining
cardiovascular
fitness.
3
..It's enjoyable:
..It is something
athletes tend to
look forward to
because they know
it works. Therefore, they don't need to be reminded to start
and end their workouts in plunge pools. From thousands of
responses after thermal and cold contrast therapy, as well
as active aquatic recovery, athletes' responses have been
extremely positive.
