WEIGHT ROOM FOR A
CHAMPIONSHIP-CALIBER TEAM
The Mississippi State Baseball team had their
sights set on excellence - on and off the field. The
winners of the 2021 College Baseball World Series
knew exactly what they wanted in a weight room,
and they knew exactly who could deliver it.
" We had a very specific idea of what we wanted,
and we wanted somebody that could come in and
give us exactly what we wanted, " says Mississippi
State Strength & Conditioning Coach Adam Thackery.
The new weight room features the best of the
best in the strength and training industry. The room
jumps to life as you are greeted by a fully customized
bridge system that allows the athletes to work on
single- and double-arm hangs which Thackery says
is great for overall shoulder health. This system
connects a series of weight racks from the Dynamic
Fitness & Strength Ultra Pro®
series. The room also
features all the equipment modification options
necessary to train sport specific - tailored to the
specific needs of Thackery and the team, " If we had
to get an entire lift done at the racks, we are able to do that
with all the variations that we would want to do. "
Racks were set up to not only facilitate traditional lifting,
but to provide the specific exercises to keep a championship
program focusing on their specific needs. The racks have all
the storage and attachment capacities that Dynamic is known
for, with an emphasis on rollers and roller pads for singleleg
and split-squat work, core work attachments, full storage
capabilities, and pull-up attachments.
For Dynamic and Mississippi State, this project went
beyond the scope of simply creating the highest quality
equipment, but also to incorporate Dynamic-specific pieces.
" I had never had any experience with the Iconic Inverse Leg
Curl before working with Dynamic Fitness, " says Thackery,
adding, " I really fell in love with it, and two more weight
rooms on campus have bought more of them because of
what we have in here. "
" It was a matter of putting in the room exactly what
they wanted, " says Dynamic Fitness & Strength Territory
Sales Representative Steve Gortmaker. " Any adjustment
that needed to be made, whether it was shelving, uprights,
storage - Dynamic came through, " Gortmaker stated.
" Going back and forth with Dynamic Fitness, we
bounced a lot of ideas off each other about how we could
maximize the space for both foot traffic and sight lines, "
shares Thackery when talking about the process of working
with the Dynamic Fitness sales and engineering teams. The
open communication and ability to identify the needs of their
program revealed an opportunity for innovation. " We
ended up getting five rolling carts for our dumbbells. "
What was so special about the carts? Thackery points
to the answer as a unique ability by Dynamic to fulfill
their needs, " We talked with their engineers, and
they actually came up with a custom design roller
cart that we absolutely love. Being able to work with
the engineers like that was absolutely unbeatable. "
The future is bright on the field and in the weight
room. " Mississippi State is a leader in collegiate
baseball and this weight room just adds to it, " said
Gortmaker. " As we move forward in the future we will
always continue to add equipment through Dynamic
Fitness because of the customer service and the
relationship that we have with that company. "
