Rupp Seeds sets the pace with product introductions
At Rupp Seeds, our mission is to Help
Farm Families Feed the World. One of the
ways we do that is by continually evaluating
products and selecting the ones that bring
enhanced quality, flavor and yield to
growers. This season, 35 new products have
been chosen to join the Rupp lineup.
Tempo XR is a 76-day, bi-color SH2 sweet
GARNET GOLD (RPX 6209)
BANNACK GOLD (RPX 6208)
corn that has a great ear size for mid-season
roadside and fresh markets. This IFSI, rust
resistant variety provides excellent husk
protection and consistent tip fill across
varying environmental conditions.
Two new Rupp pumpkin releases are
Bannack Gold (RPX 6208) and Garnet Gold
(RPX 6209), both 100-day, mid-size varieties.
Bannack Gold is the larger of the two at 19
pounds. It has a tall fruit shape, dark green
handle and shadowed warts. Bannack Gold
provides intermediate resistance to powdery
mildew. Our trial cooperators think this could
be a replacement for our popular Solid Gold
variety. Garnet Gold (RPX 6209) weighs
in with a 14.6- pound average. It has high
resistance to powdery mildew. This new
pumpkin has a round shape and heavy
ribbing. The strong handle on Garnet
Gold will " hold on " well in your market.
RAISING THE BAR
Have you been Frightened? Fright is a new
standard in warted pumpkins. This hardshell
Rupp pumpkin stays looking fresh in your fall
displays.
FRIGHT
Trial cooperators called it " Very nice! " and
" Beautiful! "
Thunderstruck is a new melon from
Seneca Vegetable Research with outstanding
Eastern flavor, sugar levels and texture.
Full-slip, full-color change aids in an easier
harvest. Fruit provide enhanced holding
ability giving you extended time to market.
Autumn Frost is a uniquely ribbed, round
winter squash that ripens to dark tan with a
frosted overlay. It is as decorative as it is tasty.
Fruit is similar in taste to a butternut with
superior quality and rich flavor. Autumn
Frost has a shelf life of up to four months after
maturity, allowing for a supply of high-quality
fruit throughout the winter season.
Twister is a tight, heavy-headed, white
cauliflower with good internal wrap. This
Sakata variety is mid-maturing with very
uniform harvest. Twister seems to prefer
heavier ground.
Celebrity Plus tomato is everything you
loved about the original Celebrity, plus
an added resistance to tomato spotted
wilt virus. This Seminis variety is a widely
adaptable hybrid for fresh market and
home garden. Celebrity Plus produces large,
smooth fruit with outstanding flavor.
STM2255 is a very versatile and adaptable

STM2255 is a very versatile and
adaptable determinate salad
variety tomato from Sakata, with
high yield potential and good vineripe
flavor. Fruit have an attractive
red color, firm and provide good
shelf-life.

can be used for both mature-green and vineripe
markets. The plants are medium-tall,
have mid-cover and benefit from pruning.
STM2255 has potential to be used in multiple
slots and regions across the Eastern U.S.
Dark Knight watermelon is eye-catching,
with its globe shape and dark green, smooth
exterior. Dark Knight's strong disease package
keeps the plants healthy throughout the
season. The fruit are slightly larger than Sweet
Gem. It has shown less hollow heart than
comparable varieties in trials.
