There are several new exciting
tomato varieties to try this coming year,
according to Jeremy Smith, Seedway
tomato and pepper product manager.
STM 2255 is a versatile variety which
is quickly becoming a go-to for many
growers in the East. If growers are
looking for a variety with stellar fruit
quality, size and yield they should look
no further than STM 2255. It has good
size all the way to the top of the plant
and will continue to produce highquality
fruit throughout the season. It
is adaptable to many regions and will
work for mature-green and vine-ripe
growers.
1-10, TMV and intermediate resistance
to tomato spotted wilt virus. Regulator
is an attractive, widely adaptable with
a high percentage of four-lobed fruit
that will maintain size throughout the
growing season. It will work for main
season, both spring and fall. It has
a strong plant with good cover and
great uniformity and high resistance
to bacterial leaf spot 1-10, TMV, and
intermediate resistance to tomato
spotted wilt virus.
Debra Deis, Seedway brassica product
manager, said that for Okra, Seedway
exclusive, Buffalo Bill 91 is early
maturing with good yield potential.
The plant is vigorous but also open and
essentially spineless for ease of harvest.
Pods are an attractive dark green and
will remain tender at a relatively long
size. It is up to three weeks earlier than
the standard, Clemson Spineless. Green
River mustard is a hybrid short stem
Japanese (Tendergreen-type) mustard
with glossy, dark and heavy leaves. It
is not bitter and good for braising, stir
fry and slow cooking. It is also good for
baby leaf production.
Manolo beet is a new variety which
may be the perfect fit for bunching. It
stays perfectly round and is uniform in
shape and size even when crowded. It
has medium-short, heavy tops, smooth
skin and deep red interior. Finally, a
new sweet-stem broccoli is BR-752. It
is easy to grow and bunch and is grown
just like regular broccoli at the same
spacing (8- to 12 inches apart in row).
It is perfect for restaurants and home
cooks who like its tender sweet stems
and small floret heads.

It has a strong disease package
and high resistance to Alternaria,
Fusarium race 1 and 2, Verticillium
and intermediate resistance to grey
leaf spot, tomato spotted wilt virus and
tomato yellow curl. Growers should also
be impressed with Patsy (3353) with
exceptional fruit quality and ease of
growing. It is a widely adapted variety
that will work well for both vine-ripe
and mature-green growers. A strong
plant enables Patsy to withstand harsh
weather conditions that are becoming
more and more prevalent. It has
high resistance to Fusarium 1 and 2,
Verticillium, tomato spotted wilt virus,
and intermediate resistance to tomato
yellow lead curl.
COYOTE
55 days. Produces pods that resist
breaking and bruising in machine
harvest. Widely adaptable and
consistent high yield potential
across most bean growing
regions. Upright bush style
variety with concentrated pod
set for harvest efficiency.
OUTLAW
57 days. Attractive dark green
color. Excellent seed quality
and germination. Versatile
across growing regions.
Sets well in heat.
CRAVE
CAPTIVATION
78 days. Bicolor Glacial type.
Great husk package, large ear
and excellent eating quality
that everyone will crave. Strong
disease package. Widely adapted.
89 days. Uniform, improved
fruit set for high yield potential.
Strong disease resistance and
plant growth habit. Suitable for
both fresh market and fresh-cut
use. Mostly 45-count for whole
fruit markets.
NITRO S10
In peppers, Nitro S10 is a mainseason
bell that has the quality, size and
uniformity that growers are looking
for. It is suited for production in the
spring and fall in the Southeast, and
in the main season in the north with
intermediate resistance to phytophthora
and high resistance to bacterial leaf spot
