THE BLACKBOARD BLOB FOR 3 Philosophically, I believe in running all out-of-bounds By DuWayne Krause, Caldwell, Idaho plays out of the same set to prevent the defense from knowing what's coming. This play is part of a series that we run from the same set; there is a play for every position. In this play, 1 is the point guard and 2 is the best perimeter shooter. 3 is the most athletic player, and 4 is the forward/worst shooter. 5 is the center. DIAGRAM: This play is designed for a catch-and-shoot by 1. 3 cuts in and back out to receive the entry pass, while 4 backscreens the baseline defender. The ball can be swung through 2 or 5, or it can be skip passed over the top. If 1 does not have a shot, the offense has an overload that can be used for a secondary shot or a shift into a zone offense.
