The defender applies token shot
pressure and yells " shot! " We want
the shooter to put up seven shots
during this time frame. After 35
seconds the shooter and passer
switch.
* " Pressure shooting off the dribble "
adds a shot fake and jumper off the
dribble. The defender closes out
and stays between the shooter and
basket.
Drill No. 2: Free-throw-line
jumpers
DIAGRAM 4: Form two lines
- one with basketballs, and one
without. The first player (3) in the
line without basketballs V-cuts hard
to the free-throw area, receives a
chest pass from 1, and takes a freethrow-line
jump shot. 1 then moves to
the end of the shooter line.
DIAGRAM 5: As 3 shoots, 4
V-cuts to the free-throw-line area for

a pass from 2. The shooter retrieves
the ball and carries it to the passers
line. We usually have each player
shoot twice off the catch. Then, each
shooter will take two shots off the
dribble going to the right, and two
shots off the dribble going to the left.
Drill No. 3: Under the basket
This is a basic drill that's used
by several programs. DIAGRAM
6 shows two lines under the basket,
and there are two balls in each line.
4 starts in the middle of the lane
and receives a pass from 1 before
shooting a layup. 1 then cuts behind
4, receives a pass from 5, and shoots
a layup. DIAGRAM 7 shows 5
cutting behind 1 for a pass from 2.
In DIAGRAM 8, 2 cuts behind 5 for
a layup.
Here is the sequence of shots we
take:
* Layup.
* Short 45-degree bank shot.
* Elbow jumper.
* Catch-and-rip, which is a short
pull-up in the lane.

* 3-point shot from the top of the
circle.
Drill No. 4: Shooters at
half-court
DIAGRAM 9 shows the initial
setup. Players 5, 6, 7 and 8 are the
initial passers and are located under
the basket with a ball. The shooters
are at half court.
The drill begins with 1 cutting to
the right elbow for a pass from 5 for a
catch-and-shoot opportunity. After 5
makes the pass, they go to the shooter
