'ILLINOIS'

DIAGRAM 1
" Illinois " is a baseline out-of-bounds
formation that provides our offense
with four plays. The alignment for each
play is the same. These plays are more
effective versus man-to-man defenses.
DIAGRAM 1: Illinois 5. This play
has screen-the-screener action. The
initial look is for 5 coming off of the
up-screen by 3. The second look is
for 3 coming off of the screen by 4,
and the third option is 4 slipping to
the basket.
DIAGRAM 2: Illinois 2. The
first option is 2 coming off of two
screens set by 3 and 4. Many times,
2 is open for a high-percentage
jumper. The next options are 3 and 4
slipping to the basket.
DIAGRAM 3: Illinois 3 (A). In this
play, the first look is to 3 for a jump
shot coming off of a screen set by 4.
If 3 does not have a shot, they look
for 4 on a quick post-up.
DIAGRAM 4: Illinois 3 (B). If
neither of those options are available,
3 looks for 2 cutting to the top of the
key off of 5's downscreen.
DIAGRAM 5
DIAGRAM 5: Illinois 3 (C). If 2
has no shot, 2 quickly swings the
ball to 1, who is coming off of a
screen by 5.
DIAGRAM 6: Illinois 1. 1 makes
a quick inbounds pass to 4. 1 then
runs behind 4 for a handoff and
either looks to make a play for
himself or hit 2 coming off of a
staggered screen by 3 and 5.
