☆ THE RIGHT TO ROAM The Norwegian " right to roam " or allemannsretten guarantees Norwegians the ability to hike around and visit anywhere in their country-- so long as they are not damaging the wildlife or terrain. The right to roam comes from an important part of Norway's cultural identity, which cares deeply about connecting with nature. Since 1957, this right has been enshrined in the Outdoor Recreation Act (Friluftsloven), which legally recognizes the Norwegians' right to explore their country.
