Alone, the beautiful young Anna immigrated to America from an Island in the
North Sea at 16, running from cruelty. Honor forced her to leave her fi rst love,
whom she met on her way to America. Alone again and stranded in New York,
she found herself running away for a second time in her young life, this time
from love. Anna worked her way across America, bringing her work ethic, honor,
and love with her. On a Dakota homestead Anna fi nally found lasting love, but
with it and her life there came an abundance of hardship, sometimes taking her
faith and courage close to the breaking point.
Th is novel follows Anna's true life story, continuing where Honoring Anna left
off . Life on a prairie homestead was often harsh and the country and it's perils
could prove to be unyielding, but it also had its heartwarming and rewarding
moments and its' triumphs.
Honoring Anna, Th e Winds of Time is a love story that is both heartwarming
and heartbreaking. It masterfully takes you through the Dirty Th irties, Th e
Great Depression, the year of the wolves, WWII, and homesteading hardships
like none other ever written, through the eyes of those that experienced these
trying times. It is a piece of American history that will make you cry one minute
and stand up and cheer the next, and will inspire you to reach for the levels of
courage and honor that these amazing immigrants possessed and brought with
them to America.
Doug was an honor student and valedictorian of his
class. During his ranching career he was named the
SD Young Farmer of the Year, US Livestock Man of
the Year, and the North American Beef Improvement
Federation Seedstock Producer of the Year. He graduated
from the SD Rural Leadership program and founded
and owned Hoffs Scotch Cap Angus Ranch and Angus
America. He and his wife Molly have two children and
four grandchildren and currently reside in Spearfish, SD.
This is Doug's second novel based on the incredible and
true life of his wife's immigrant grandmother Anna.
