Building Your Care Plan-
Gender-Informed Day Treatment
Assessment & Evaluation
Our clinicians will conduct tests to examine or reassess
your substance use. Based on the results, if treatment is
needed, your care team will design the most-effective
individualized care plan for you and will discuss our
recommendations with you, your family, and others
involved in your care.
Gender-Informed Day Treatment
Care
As a part of our comprehensive continuum of care, our
day treatment services provide clinical care, structure,
and support following your primary residential
treatment, or as your initial level of care based on
your clinical needs to help you get well and stay well.
Gender-informed Day Treatment Care includes five
days of programming, and will allow you to begin
practicing and demonstrating living and life skills
in a highly structured, supportive environment. For
transgender and nonbinary individuals, we will work
with you to determine the program option that is best
for you. In this gender-informed program, patients
participate in individual counseling, group therapy,
educational and therapeutic programs, wellness and
individualized experiential workshops, and personal
interactions with peers. Your length of stay is based on
your clinical needs, along with achieving clinical and
behavioral milestones.
It has been proven that patients who fully participate
and follow the recommendations of their individualized
care plan have the most-effective outcomes and
sustained sobriety.
Typical Treatment Activities
* Educational Services-Our educational component
features workshops presented by staff members, as
well as video and printed materials.
* Group Therapy-The purpose of group therapy is
to discover self, identify the defenses that prevent
this discovery, and see more accurately what needs
changing.
* Individual Counseling-Individual counseling
allows you to meet one-on-one with your counselor
and work on your individualized care plan.
* Spiritual Care-Addiction affects the body, mind,
and spirit. Spiritual care is an essential component
of each patient's treatment experience at Hazelden
Betty Ford. A spiritual care professional will help you
understand how addiction affects the human spirit
and how recovery includes caring for your spiritual
self. Services provided by spiritual care counselors
include group workshops on spirituality in recovery.
Our spiritual care professionals respect the belief
system of each patient. Hazelden Betty Ford is not
affiliated with a religious denomination.
* Wellness Services-Designed to help with lifestyle
balance in recovery, weekly wellness group focuses
on identifying and planning for high risk situations,
stress management, and leisure activities. Our
fitness center provides an opportunity for physical
exercise-a natural way to reduce stress. The Cork
Center has an exercise room with cardio and strength
building equipment, gymnasium, indoor walking/
running track, and game room. We also have miles
of walking trails on lakefront property and a disc golf
course.
* Specialized Tracks-Care plans are developed
to meet the unique needs of each individual. We
offer specialized tracks for health care and legal
professional, opioid addiction, and medication
assisted therapy.
Mental Health Services
Mental Health services are available on an outpatient
basis to support patients' individualized care plans as
needed. As a part of the Day Treatment level of care,
you will participate in mental health programming two
days a week. Based on your clinical needs, specialized
therapy services are available and may include services
for anxiety, depression, trauma, disordered eating,
and relationships. Please see your care team for more
