Changing Your Life
Our program goals and expectations are designed to ensure
that you and other patients here have the best opportunity
to learn, change and heal-one day at a time.
Progress Measurement
Your progress in treatment is measured based on your
ability to meet these criteria:
* Abstain from the use of alcohol and other drugs.
* Act in a manner that is consistent with your goals.
* Consistently meet program guidelines and
expectations.
* Develop and maintain positive relationships with
your peers and staff.
* Focus on your recovery.
* Apply the recovery principles of the Twelve Step
program (AA, NA, or CA).
* Make realistic plans regarding your continued
abstinence and holistic recovery.
In the event that you or your treatment team believes
you are not making the expected progress, a staff
meeting will be scheduled to review the situation
and to determine a plan of action. New treatment
recommendations could be made that include a referral
to another Hazelden Betty Ford program or a program
outside of our organization. If such recommendations
are made, you and the individuals you indicate you
want involved in your treatment-family members,
significant others, therapists, physicians and insurance
companies-may be included in this planning process.
After successful completion of your treatment
program, your treatment group will present you with a
medallion, a token to help you remember your journey
in living sober " One day at a time. " At that time, you
and your counselor will solidify your continuing care
recommendations.
Program Goals
You will identify personal goals for what you want to
accomplish in early recovery. As a cornerstone of your
ongoing recovery, these basic goals are assigned to all
patients:
* Practice honesty with yourself and others
* Recognize how the Twelve Steps offer a solution
and demonstrate willingness to seek the solution by
integrating the Steps into your daily life
* Integrate spiritual practices into your daily life
* Learn the skills of self-examination and
self-reflection to enhance recovery
* Identify and remove barriers to holistic recovery and
the development of a balanced life
* Practice personal responsibility, courage and
integrity in all you do
* Invest in the peer community through your regular
participation in recovery and social activities

of enabling such behavior are taken seriously and
will result in immediate action up to and including
discharge.
