Mandated Reporting
Florida law mandates reporting of child abuse,
abandonment, neglect, and exploitation, to the Central
Abuse Hotline, whether it is suspected or there is
reasonable cause. Florida law also mandates reporting
when someone has reasonable cause to suspect,
that a vulnerable adult has been or is being abused,
neglected, or exploited and must immediately report
such knowledge or suspicion to the central abuse
hotline. Professional staff at Hazelden Betty Ford
Foundation are mandated reporters, and staff will follow
reporting requirements as defined by Florida law. If you
have questions regarding these laws, or are aware of
information you believe may be reportable, please ask
your assigned clinician.
The Florida Abuse Hotline accepts reports 24 hours
a day and 7 days a week of known or suspected child
abuse, neglect, or abandonment and reports of known or
suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation of a vulnerable
adult. If you suspect or know of a child or vulnerable
adult in immediate danger, call 911.
Concerns may be reported through the Florida
Department of Children and Families Abuse Hotline
