EMPOWER TEENS TO
FIGHT BACK AGAINST
SUBSTANCE USE
Interactive, Evidence-Based Strategies
to Help Teens Make Informed Decisions
What Teens Need to Know empowers young people (ages 12-18) to make informed decisions based on facts and not
assumptions about peers, social media glamorization or misleading advertisements. Founded on interactive,
evidence-based strategies, this video-based curriculum uses the power of social norming to spark positive discussions
around shared healthy behaviors and attitudes regarding addictive substances.
Combining today's lastest science behind substances and the disease of addiction, and interviews with teens who
have found recovery and expert counselors, this program is designed to quickly connect with teens for a lasting, meaningful
impact.
With customization and flexibility at top of mind, users can implement as many or as few topics as they want. The easyto-navigate
menu allows facilitators to use the five-to-seven segments in recommended order, or they can pick and
choose the specific topics relevant to their population's needs. The video-program can be used as individual segments,
combined with other segments, or used to complement existing programs and curricula.
To facilitate this program, you do not need previous or specialized substance knowledge. Whether you're using this
for educational, community group individual or group, treatment, corrections or other therapeutic purposes, this is a
comprehensive, accessible and easy-to-use program.
Subtitles are available in Spanish and English.
