tissue. Other types of paper such as facial tissue and
writing paper do not dissolve and will plug drain pipes.
Please report all malfunctions or building damage to
the unit office immediately. Luggage should be placed
in storage. Please bring any items you want stored to
the technician on duty. Please use the bathroom that is
located in your room, not those throughout the facility
intended for staff and visitors.
Room senior responsibilities
A room senior is a patient elected to serve as a leader
and spokesperson for the room. Room seniors are
responsible for the following duties:
* Review room responsibilities with new roommates
* Equally divide room responsibilities, and check for
completion and status daily
* Report at Patient Governance Meetings and
Community Meetings
Unresolved conflicts may be referred to the counseling
staff and/or unit supervisor.
Room expectations
Everyone is responsible for waking up on time,
completing jobs and attending breakfast. Rooms need to
be cleaned each morning and kept neat throughout the
day. Daily chores include the following:
* Clean patio windows with glass cleaner and paper
towels
* Empty all trash cans and line with new trash bags
(trash bags are located at the tech desk)
* Vacuum the entire floor of your room (each unit
has a vacuum; remember to return it when you are
finished)
* Clean and straighten bathroom (rubber gloves are
available on request): clean mirror with glass cleaner
and cleaning rags; clean bathroom fixtures with
disinfectant cleaner and cleaning rags; hang towels
neatly on towel racks; clean the bathtub after you
shower, take a bath or soak in the tub
* On scheduled linen days, place dirty towels in the
cart with the red cover, located in your unit's upper
closet (housekeeping will hand you clean towels
when you turn in your dirty ones)

* Pick up all items on the floor
* Place shower curtain inside tub before using shower
* Keep patio doors locked at all times
STAFF INSPECTS ROOMS DAILY.
Your personal area
Beds:
* Make your bed neatly every morning, and keep it
that way throughout the day
* Bedding exchange occurs on each unit three times
weekly; at any time, clean linen is available upon
patient request
* Don't let sheets and blankets hang out under the
bedspread (the square end of the bedspread goes
at the top of the bed and the round end goes at the
bottom of the bed); remember to tuck your pillow
* Keep all of your valuables (money, jewelry, etc.)
locked in your wardrobe's electronic safe at all times
Desks:
* Keep your desk neat and organized
* Do not put anything on top of your lamp
* Do not put clothes under your desk or on your chair
* Use the disinfectant cleaner for dusting your desk
* Do not keep valuables on your desk; use your safe
Wardrobes:
* Keep wardrobes neat
* Do not place anything on top of your wardrobe
* Keep your dirty clothes in a plastic bag in the bottom
of your wardrobe (bags are available at the tech desk)
* Keep clean towels in your wardrobe or hung neatly in
the bathroom on the towel bar
Magnetic boards and walls:
* Use your white board to display only appropriate
material
* Do not tack or tape anything on your walls
Personal items:
* Keep all personal items such as shampoo, toothpaste
and toothbrush in your assigned plastic tote on the
bathroom vanity and carry them to the bathroom
when you need them; do not leave any items,
including soap, in the bathrooms
