alcohol screens are an additional charge. Be aware that
a refusal to provide a drug and/or alcohol screen will
affect good standing in the program. Refusing to take a
screening may be cause for discharge. Screenings may
be observed by a same-sex staff member.
9. Refrain from romantic and/or sexual involvement
with other patients in the Hazelden Betty Ford
continuum of care.
10. Use break times to take care of personal needs.
Groups and lectures begin and end on time.
11. Do not take pictures of anyone on the premises.
12. Maintain confidentiality in all group settings. What is
said in group, and who is here, stays within the group.
13. Provide constructive, specific, respectful and
pertinent feedback regarding issues being addressed.
14. Complete assignments in a timely manner. Assignments
in your treatment plan may be reviewed in group.
15. Remain in the facility during program times.
16. Hazelden Betty Ford is committed to everyone's
physical and emotional safety. Bullying, threats of
violence or actual violence may result in discharge
from the program.
If you have questions or concerns about any aspect of
treatment, ask your counselor.
Program details
The outpatient program for adolescents and young
adults offers a treatment model that allows you to fully
experience treatment and incorporate what you learn
into your life.
* Outpatient programming is intended for those who are
not currently using and who do not need a medically
supervised detoxification or stabilization and for those
who have stable mental and physical health.
* Patients will participate in the level of care (PHP, IOP,
OP) assessed as appropriate for their needs. This may
also include mixed gender and age population groups.
* Day treatment meets for 20 group hours per week,
including individual sessions.
* IOP meets for 12 group hours per week with individual
sessions as needed.
* The program and campus are nicotine free. Nicotine
use is not allowed anywhere on campus or any

adjacent property.
* How long you attend and how many days a week
you attend varies and is determined by your progress
in meeting treatment goals and by your ability to
use newly learned recovery skills in day-to-day
interpersonal relations.
On-site Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings are
available to you. Visit HazeldenBettyFord.org/Events
for times and dates.
Components of outpatient
treatment
Patients participate in a variety of groups and
individual counseling sessions while in outpatient care.
Educational services
Hazelden Betty Ford's educational component consists
of a series of topics presented by professional staff
members in various formats. You may be asked to
complete a worksheet, participate in discussions or
practice an exercise as part of your education. Topics
include information about substance use, the Twelve
Step program and issues pertinent to holistic recovery.
