Teen Intervene (Minnesota Only) Teen Intervene is for young people ages 12-19 who have experienced mild to moderate problems with alcohol or other drugs. It is a research-based program to help young people make healthier choices surrounding substance use. By using individual goals and personalized feedback, Teen Intervene is directly focused on each adolescent's specific needs. The program is neither judgmental nor confrontational. Teen Intervene gives parents and guardians the opportunity to explore their concerns around the young person's substance use in a safe setting. Parents will also learn healthy communication tools and the importance of setting family rules surrounding substance misuse. 36 The program consists of an assessment and then three individual 60-minute sessions over six to eight weeks. The third session includes the parents or guardians. Families may also wish to participate in an optional follow-up session three months after completing the program. Program Goals and Expectations Our program goals and expectations are designed to ensure that you and other patients here have the best opportunity to learn, change and heal-one day at a time.
