Building Your Care Plan
Your care plan at Hazelden Betty Ford integrates the latest
research and proven-effective practices-and is carefully
designed to meet your specific needs, with whatever therapies,
co-occurring services and medications are appropriate.
Treatment Programs
The way you think. How you feel. What you believe.
Substance use changes everything about you. It affects
your judgment, emotions and beliefs. That's why
our treatment approach is holistic and personalized,
providing care for your mind, body and spirit-and
taking into account everything you need to get well.
Assessment and evaluation
You will have a team of experts who will be creating
a treatment plan tailored to your individual needs.
Hazelden Betty Ford employs on-site medical doctors,
psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, counselors,
nutritionists, spiritual counselor and case managers
who collaborate to assess and adjust each individual's
treatment plan. These highly trained professionals will
be meeting you to assess your needs and will collaborate
as a team to come up with the best plan for you.
Residential and day treatment
Hazelden Betty Ford's substance use treatment
programs are based on years of research and study.
Our philosophy is to treat each person who comes to
us with respect and dignity while providing a safe and
comfortable place in which to heal. Your length of stay
is truly individualized and based on your clinical needs.
Phased-Treatment Approach
Hazelden Betty Ford uses a phased-treatment
approach designed to help you progress through your
treatment experience based on your individual needs.
Because the program is individualized, your needs
will be continually reassessed by your treatment team
to determine how many phases you will need to go
through. You will progress at your own pace and may be
eligible to earn incentives along the way based on your
progress in meeting treatment goals. Below is an outline
of the core goals of each phase.
* Orientation-Introduction, Education, Preparation:
In orientation, you enter treatment and begin
learning about substance use, the Twelve Steps, unit
expectations and your treatment process.
* Phase one-Exploration, Recognition and
Admission: In phase one you will begin to explore
and understand how substance use has impacted
your life. During this phase, you may be eligible to
participate in on-site movie nights and other on-site
recreational activities.
* Phase two-Internalization, Identification and
Acceptance: In phase two you will learn to put
your education into action by using healthy coping
skills, identifying personal values and establishing a
relationship with a Higher Power. During this phase,
you can work toward positive peer status and may be
eligible for additional privileges such as video games,
iPad use twice per week, and eligibility for elections
or various leadership roles.
* Phase three-Commitment, Courage, and Action: In
phase three you will have the opportunity to apply the
skills that you have learned while focusing on healthy
decision making based on a balance of what you want
and what you need in recovery. During this phase,
you may be eligible to earn additional privileges such
as more-frequent use of an iPad.
