Changing Your Life
Our program goals and expectations are designed to ensure
that you and other patients here have the best opportunity
to learn, change and heal-one day at a time.
Confidentiality
During your stay at Hazelden Betty Ford, we ask that
when you are talking to people outside the facility,
talking on the phone or meeting with visitors that you do
not talk about other patients without their permission.
Progress Measurement
Your progress in treatment will be measured by your
ability to:
* Abstain from the use of mood-altering substances
* Act in a manner that is consistent with your goals
* Apply the recovery principles of the Twelve Step
program of AA or NA
* Consistently follow program guidelines and meet
expectations
* Demonstrate openness, willingness and honesty
* Develop and maintain positive relationships with
peers and staff members
* Focus on your recovery
* Make realistic plans regarding your continued
abstinence and recovery
In the event that you or your treatment team believes
you are not making expected progress and/or are
not following program rules, a staff meeting will be
scheduled at which time you and the team will review
the situation. New treatment recommendations could
be made that include a referral to another Hazelden
Betty Ford service or even a program outside of
Hazelden Betty Ford. If such recommendations are
made, you and those individuals you had indicated
you wanted involved in your treatment, such as family
members, significant others, therapists, physicians,
and insurance companies, would be included in the
treatment planning process.
Transfer or Discharge
The safety of patients and staff at Hazelden Betty Ford
is extremely important. Patients may be transferred
or discharged from Hazelden Betty Ford at any time
if they are a threat to themselves or others. In some
circumstances, a targeted treatment plan and/or
resolution of concern may take place.
Hazelden Betty Ford may also take legal action if
illegal behaviors occur on our property. The following
behaviors/rule violations are unacceptable because of
the negative impact they have on you as an individual
(and your ability to make progress) and other peers
participating in the program. Engaging in these
unacceptable behaviors may result in your being asked
to leave the program or transfer to another program.
* Stealing: This includes stealing from peers, staff or
Hazelden Betty Ford.
* Discrimination and/or discriminatory behavior:
Making comments or treating others unfairly in
regards to categories of people or things, especially
on the grounds of race, age or sex.
* Using, possessing, or supplying mood-altering
substances: Which includes electronic smoking
devices and nicotine products. You may be asked to
complete a urine analysis if use is suspected.
* Leaving campus without permission.
* Violence: This includes but is not limited to hitting,
slapping, kicking, verbal threats, discriminatory
comments or behaviorism, bullying, explosive
outbursts and damaging property.
* Sexual behavior: Physical contact, sexual innuendo,
or any forms of sexual harassment of any kind with
another patient and/or staff member in Hazelden
Betty Ford's continuum of care is not allowed. Mutually
