Building Your Care Plan
Your care plan at the Betty Ford Center integrates the
latest research and proven-effective practices-and is
carefully designed to meet your specific needs, with
whatever therapies, mental health services and
medications are appropriate.
High-Intensity Outpatient,
also known as Day Treatment
Our day treatment services provide primary
substance use disorder treatment, which addresses the
biopsychosocial and spiritual aspects of recovery. In this
program, patients participate in individual counseling,
group counseling and peer fellowship opportunities.
Upon admission to this program, your counselor may
also refer you to mental health services. Additionally,
there are wellness, recreational and spiritual
opportunities at this level of care. You are expected
to follow through on all treatment recommendations,
including those related to exercise, monitoring of vital
signs and taking medications. Services for residential
and day treatment patients may include the following:
* Educational Services-Our educational component
features lectures presented by staff members as well
as video and printed materials.
* Group Therapy-The purpose of group therapy is to
interact with others in a therapeutic forum in order
to better understand self, increase hope, learn new
ways of behavior and help others.
* Individual Therapy-Individual therapy allows you to
develop a personalized plan for building a foundation
for lifelong recovery.
Intensive Outpatient Program
The intensive outpatient program (IOP) offers a
treatment model that allows you to fully experience
treatment and incorporate what you learn into your life.
* IOP is intended for those who do not need a
medically supervised detoxification or stabilization,
and have stable mental and physical health.
* The program meets for 12 group hours per week with
individual sessions as needed.

* Nicotine use is not allowed anywhere in the center or
in the building.
* Length of stay varies and is determined by your
progress in meeting treatment goals and by your
ability to use newly learned recovery skills in
day-to-day interpersonal relations.
Outpatient Services
As part of your programming, we may step you down
to the outpatient program as a continuation of your
development of recovery and life skills, including
relapse prevention. An individualized treatment plan
will be developed to address your specific recovery
needs. Patients participate in a variety of groups and
individual counseling sessions while in outpatient care.
Low-intensity outpatient
Most people who struggle with addiction to alcohol or
other drugs benefit from continuing care after treatment
to strengthen skills that build lasting recovery. Our
counselor-facilitated groups are a time for you to:
* Process any immediate recovery concerns
* Learn about relapse prevention strategies
* Develop a deeper understanding of the Twelve Steps
* Identify self-defeating behaviors that cause stress in
your life
* Address other recovery challenges and concerns
Assessment services
An alcohol and drug use assessment is performed by a
licensed or certified professional who will assess specific
addiction issues, mental health, gender, physical health,
home environment, level of social development and
environmental issues. We don't focus on addiction in
