Your Safety & Security We pride ourselves on providing a safe and caring environment-a place where you can feel comfortable and begin to heal. Familiarizing yourself with the following information about campus services and regulations will help make your stay more comfortable as well. Facility Information & Services Hazelden Betty Ford in St. Paul is nestled between the Mississippi River and a beautiful residential area close to both downtown St. Paul and Minneapolis. Please be thoughtful and respectful of our neighbors by parking and smoking in designated areas and keeping the noise level down. Please notify staff of any inappropriate or suspicious behavior or activity that would be a risk to our campus or neighbors. Be observant for animals when walking on the grounds. Pets are not allowed on campus. Books & materials Many of the books and materials used in programming are available through our online bookstore. Visit Hazelden.org/Bookstore to search for materials. Personal electronic devices Wi-Fi Guest Wi-Fi services are available for all residents. Wi-Fi is first and foremost intended to aid our residents in gaining employment, enrolling in college, finding resources within the Twelve Step community to enrich recovery and remaining connected with family and loved ones. You will be provided a unique username and password upon admission to the residence. This is intended to ensure appropriate use of the Internet and a safe community for our residents. Illegal music and media downloads via Hazelden Betty Ford resources put you at risk for legal action and immediate discharge from Hazelden Betty Ford. Studios and production companies monitor illegal downloads daily and pursue legal action when these occur. Pornography and similar sites are also blocked. Streaming sites that use significant bandwidth are blocked to ensure fast Internet connection speeds are available for our residents looking for employment or completing schoolwork. Televisions Resident lounges are equipped with televisions for your use. Attaching streaming services to televisions is not allowed. These include items such as Roku, Chromecast or other devices meant for streaming television and movies. Personal laptop use You are welcome to bring your own laptop for use while you stay at Hazelden Betty Ford. Appropriate use is expected. Illegal or inappropriate use will result in the computer being placed in storage. Laptops are able to connect to your personal Wi-Fi user account only. Personal laptops are not to be plugged into any network ports on-site. Cell phones Cell phone use is allowed in and around the building during open times in the schedule. Cell phone use is not allowed while in lecture, group or in any other scheduled programming. If your phone is used during group, it jeopardizes the confidentiality of everyone around you, and it will be placed in storage. Wearables Because of the private and confidential nature of our work in substance use disorder treatment, we are unable to allow wearable technology, which may have audio or video recording capabilities. These features jeopardize our ability to maintain a safe and private therapeutic environment for our patients and their families.
